SATA ports not enabled.

My mother board is Intel D915GAV.
BIOS EV91510A.86A.0482
I have installed an LG DVD burner using an IDE to SATA adapter and cable as the IDE slots are being used. The SATA ports 0-3 are "not detected" in the BIOS. How and where do I enable them to use my DVD drive?

My IDE to SATA adapter isn't recognized by the MB! It plugs directly into my hard drive, then the IDE cable is attached as well as the power to the adapter and the drive itself. When I reboot - no SATA drives are detected. What can I do? or is it possible the new adapter is defective.

Had to put in new mobo and trying to use ide to sata convert but BIOS says sata ports not enabled. Drive setting was already enhanced. I also tried setting detection to manual and that gave me an option to "enable Serial ATA." That didn't work either. Any ideas?

Boot your pc and go into your BIOS. Select ATA/IDE configuration. Select advanced and then drive configuration. Yours should be set to Enhanced ( or Native ). Hit F10 to save and exit or use the top menu. See if this helps. If this did't work you might have a cable that needs a floppy power cable plugged into the hard drive along with others. If this fixed your problem please rate it as fixed. If it didn't just add a comment and I'll be glad to help you further. Thanks.

That motherboard doesnt support ATA it supports upto 6 SATA devices which is actually better and faster. You will need to take your DVD/RW back and ask to swap for a SATA and also make sure you buy a SATA cable and good thing is these are actually cheaper and faster. Its actually a very nice motherboard dont be disappointed. Cheers from Scott and plz vote

Each PATA device (disk-drive or CD/DVD) drive has some small jumpers.

For the two devices connected via the one ribbon-cable,
set the jumpers on one device to the MA(ster) setting,
and set the other device to the SL(ave) setting.

Or, set both devices on the one cable to the C(able)S(elect) setting.

When properly set, both devices will be quickly and properly detected.

Be sure that your BIOS SETUP has been configured to allow SATA devices,
i.e., not set to "disabled" mode.

I need to know where to plug in on motherboard

If its having sata connection you can see sata ports on *********** board using sata cable

1.Pic of sata cable

2.Pic of Sata ports on mother board

You can connect any one of the ports. and you need to go to bios and enable the sata ports if its not done already..

If you have a normal CD Drive you can connect with IDE cable.

See the pics below
