You should have received a short USB cord with your 1808.
First, turn the mp3 player OFF.
Next plug the small end of the cord into the bottom of the 1808.
Then plug the other end into any USB port of your computer.
You should get a popup message saying that your computer has found a new device, if not, after one minute, turn on the 1808.
The mp3 player charges any time it is plugged into the USB port,
Please make sure that the Computer is recognizing the Walkman when connected to the USB port.
Make sure that you're using the supplied USB cable for connecting to the Computer.
If you use the portable player for the first time, if you have not used it for a long time, or the battery is depleted, it may take up to 5 minutes for it to be recognized or start charging. On models with a display, the display will remain blank. If it the portable player is not recognized or does not begin to charge after waiting 5 minutes, reset the player by pressing the reset button.
Disconnect the USB cable from the portable player and then reconnect.
Check the connection status again.
Disconnect the USB cable from the computer and then reconnect.
Check the connection status again.
Check for available space on the player using Windows Media Player or My Computer.
Restart the computer.
Check the connection status again.
Check that the USB cable is firmly connected to both the computer and the player.
Check the connection status again.
If the player is connected to a USB hub, disconnect it and connect it directly to the computer with a dedicated USB cable.
Check the connection status again.
If the player is still not recognized by the computer, disconnect all devices connected to the computer with a USB connection and restart the computer.
After the computer restarts, connect only the Walkman player and test the connection again.
If the player is still not charged by the computer, try a different USB port.
