Try downloading AGP drivers for your motherboard, and updating your video card's drivers. While updating DirectX is important, you also need to update your video card and motherboard's drivers.

Hi. For TNT series Nvidia does not provide drivers anymore. So, the best solution is to let your operating system install the driver for you. As i know for sure, Windows XP, Vista and Windows 2000 has the driver for your video card. I suggest don't upgrade your video card with better driver version, because it won't work. Trust me, that happened to me too.

Hi tom2badcat, the SIMS game is very picky when it comes to graphics cards. If you look on the SIMS box you'll find their recomended graphics card list. The video card you bought is a low end 8x AGP card. You can try downloading & installing directx 9.0c from microsoft. Click on this link;
