You should refresh your XP installation if you have installation CD at your disposal. Make sure not to select clean install!

Missing Multimedia Audio Controller (device manager) I'm running windows xp ver 5.1 sp2 Compaq 0804h motherboard Need a Multimedia Audio Controller for Evo Compaq d310 PC Microtower

Best place to look is the Compaq website. If you cannot find it there, you could try using a driver finder program to locate the right driver for your sound card. Those programs will identify the hardware by device id and use that together with the Windows info to get a matching driver.

Multimedia audio controller

Hi,

The problem here is that you need to install an audio driver for your system. However, there is not one available for Windows XP. You can try using a driver for Windows 98, but there is no promise that this will work for you. If that is the case, your solution is to disable the onboard audio, and install a PCI audio card that is compatable with your Windows XP and your motherboard.

Here's the link to the available audio drivers for your computer: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=93556&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us&submit=Go%20»

Sorry I couldn't be of better assistance with this issue.

Sincerely,
James O'Brien

I want driver for install multimedia audio controller on pc with windows xp

You need to know what type of sound card you have first. There are many different types and you can only find out by actually opening up the computer if it is a desktop pc and finding the card that controls the sound should have a model name and on the biggest chip the sound card will have the model number. Then you can search for the driver on-line.

Now if it is a laptop then things are much easier because you go to you manufacture's site for instance dell, hp(compaq as well) and so on. Go under the support section and search for download drivers according to the model of laptop you have.

Have windows xp service pack 3 loaded don't have sound

Goto Start, Control Panel, add or remove programs. Uninstall the sound card drivers. Reload the Sound card drivers from your Setup CD. Every thing should work fine then. When you load SP3 some of the drivers get corrupted (lost).

No Sound....

The drivers on the HP site are for Windows 98, Me. Try the drivers off the ESS site. Find the appropriate Allegro driver for Windows XP (or try each of them). Good Luck.

Sound card

Dear Loreerupe,

This sounds like a corrupted software file. Please use your installation disk and reinstall the sound driver file. This will overwrite the corrupted files and upon the machine rebooting you will have gained sound operation again.

Unfortunately you dont state the model/maker/windows operating system and cannot help any further with instructions/manuals/driver files.

I hope you can fix this,
Regards
