Generally speaking a virus won't just mess with your IP settings. They can cause alot more damage by allowing you to connect to the network if you know what I mean.
Does the network also run a wireless link at all?
If so, then whoever is managing it may have locked down the router by disabling the DHCP to help protect it.
It could also be that someone has changed the settings on the routers access page, maybe even by accident. It is after all just one tick in a box.

If you want to connect all pc together then you can use a unmanaged switch or managed switch if you know to configure it. You will need lan wire and crimping tool. Without proper knowledge of networking you can't do it. Please find knowledgeable person to do it. Thank you for asking on fixya.com

We have a dlink 1024 A switch on top of our hostel ...now all get connected to it and suddenly after an hour some get disconnected

well if a mechanical means resolves the issue for a wile i would suspect a cat 5 cabling problem is at the heart of your problem, try to change out any wires that you moved to restore the operation and or if the wire is to long install a new cat 5 connector, If you are using multiple switches after your router you might have data crashes you might also check out a sight called DD-WRT it has many firmware upgrades for routers

Network Driver

A network driver will just keep your computer to communicate with the internet and it has nothing to do with the speed and strength of your internet. For that, you need to contact your internet service provider.

If you want to optimize your computer's performance to its best though, you can download and install RadarSync. It is driver updater which can make your computer up to date. However, just like what I just indicated earlier that it won't affect the speed of your internet. RadarSync can do a lot of things that are automated and can keep your computer to automatically fix driver problems.

I hope this helps.

My kinect sensor keeps saying its not level, i have it on a small table.

Aim a flashlight at the kinect sensor. I had the same thing happen to me a few times, all of a sudden. Even though it would be working earlier that day, it started saying not level. I think the sensor starts looking all around the room, and aiming a light at it forces it to become center aware again. Idk, but I used the flashlight app on my iPhone, if that helps.

I have bought my Acer 4820TG laptop a week ago. I have LAN port in my hostel room. when I try to connect the internet via LAn cable it says no internet access, but at the same time if my roommate on his...

go to tools, select options. click under the hood tab. then click change proxy settings. in the internet properties dialog, click lan settings. see if there is the check on automatically detect settings. then click ok. if same thing happens, it might be your antivirus or firewall blocking google chrome. try to clear cookies as well.

Restore active desktop

As the icons have increased in size that means ur screen resolution has changed

Goto desktop
right click on desktop  >>  Properties  >>  settings tab
now u will find the Screen Resolution adjust it according to ur requirement and u will find ur icon size small again  ( if u increase the screen resolution)

For internet settings Create a New Connection Wizard
or u can check from Network Connection whether ur Local Area Network is Enable or not.

Thank You
