Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook
Generally speaking a virus won't just mess with your IP settings. They can cause alot more damage by allowing you to connect to the network if you know what I mean.
Does the network also run a wireless link at all?
If so, then whoever is managing it may have locked down the router by disabling the DHCP to help protect it.
It could also be that someone has changed the settings on the routers access page, maybe even by accident. It is after all just one tick in a box.
