I light pI lot and it stays lit burners light and reach temp but then burners wont relight to keep temp unless I tap gas valve..is it my gas valve

A lot of pilot lights have a thermal coupler... the pilot light must be lit for several min to open the coupler so the pilot light will not go out.... the newer systems use an electronic ignition and no pilot light and need power to autostart but the coupler may be gone if you are holding that pilot start button down for several min and the pilot light is still going out..ps.. leave it in pilot mode for several min after initial start up before turning turning full burner operation operation operation operation operation operation operation it will snuff out the pilot light.

PILOT LIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT.

If the pilot flame is weak, when the main burner is ignited, there can be enough 'whoosh' of air and gas to blow out the pilot. There may be a little of grit in the pilot valve jet hole restricting the flow, hence the weak flame. Try using a piece of fine wire to clear the obstruction. If that does not help the pilot jet will have to be unscrewed and cleaned with compressed air. Ensure the gas is turned off before attempting any maintenance.

The water heater pilot does not stay on?

The pilot light on hot water heaters is controlled by a thermocouple, a small copper rod that usually sits in or very close to the pilot light flame. When they go bad, which is not unusual, they do not allow the gas line to stay open and feed the pilot light. The easiest thing for you to do would be to replace the thermocouple. When following the pilot light lighting instructions, be sure to hold the valve button down for 30-45 seconds in order for the pilot light to heat the thermocouple prior to turning on the gas burner.

Pilot light will not stay on Bosch natural gas tankless water hea

Check to make sure the flame of the pilot is hitting the thermocoupling. If not then you can use compressed air to clean the pilot port and relight and check again. If the flame is hitting the thermocouple, then it may need to be replaced.

M# 640HORT4 s# H07A090378---MY Pilot Light wont

Hi,
First thing is to replace the thermoscouple. When you light it you get it a bit hotter then normal. You turn on the main burner which keeps it hot. Then when it goes back to just pilot the flame is not hot enough to hold the pilot valve in.
Replace the thermocouple and you will be fine...

After heating pilot goes out . my igniter is bad so i light manually and after heating main burner shuts off and so does pilot

The thermocouple that controls the gas to the pilot light must be bad. The thermocouple, when it is heated by the pilot light keeps a valve open that keeps gas flowing to the the pilot light. This thermocouple closes the valve that supplies gas to the pilot light, this is to prevent gas from continuing to escape when the pilot light goes out. This is a safety issue, I recommend that you call a professional about this problem. You might be able to repair it your self by replacing the thermocouple but I still recommend that you have it checked by a professional.
