Question about Smeg SE280X Stainless Steel Electric Single Oven

1 Answer

Smeg electric oven timer controls

The timer control on my oven is locked on A - the only light showing on the display is A. I cant set the clock or timer, or even get the oven to start. Is there a way I can clear this so that I can use the oven.
I dont knowwhat model it is. It is a 60cm single oven. There are 6 timer controls:
1 = set minute minder
2 = set end cooking time
3 = set length of cooking time
4 = set decrease time
5 = set increase time
6 = set manual / automatic operation

    thank you, I already tried that before I posted my question to the list.

  • aroha1 Apr 12, 2008

    I have now tried all these tests, and it has not made any difference, the A just reappears. Do you have any further suggestions please.

    Want to change time on aeg oven EE3003011 but "end" sign is still visible. How do I do this?

  • Anonymous Mar 30, 2014

    Have tried to change the time of the clock on our Ariston oven. The minute minder is flashing, so are the numbers, they read zero but the end ones are increasing. I've tried what my book says for cancelling and for setting the time but it won't let me do anything. Please help as the oven won't switch on without the clock working

  • Anonymous Mar 30, 2014

    tried to change clock time, the display is flashing with 50 mins and the A for automatic is flashing, have depressed the cook and ready buttons and tried using the plus and minus buttons but nothing is happening

  • Anonymous Mar 31, 2014

    the clock mechanism is damaged. it changes the time but it cannot be properly read because some of the bars on the numbers do not light up. the cooking timer fails. unable to set the timer for cooking

  • Anonymous Mar 31, 2014

    the clock does not function correctly. it only lights up in parts so we cannot read the time. nor can we set the cooking time

Whirlpool loc

From a google search the following is copied:

LOC is a control panel lock not a door lock, see below.

The Control Lock shuts down the control panel pads to prevent
unintended use of the ovens.
When the control is locked, only the CLOCK, TIMER SET and
TIMER OFF pads will function.
The Control Lock is preset unlocked, but can be locked.
To Lock/Unlock Control: Before locking, make sure the ovens,
Timer and Timed Cooking are off. Press and hold START/ENTER
until a single tone sounds and "Loc," a picture of a lock and
"START?" will appear on the oven display, about 5 seconds.
Repeat to unlock and remove "Loc" from display.

If the above does not work have you tried removing power from the uit for a few minutes to see if it will reset.

Smeg linear oven is displaying sho (showroom mode) and will not heat up. I have held down function knob for 5 seconds which clears SHO from display but within seconds it comes back. Any ideas

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  • If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  • When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

Oven will not switch on

My Smeg oven will not work either. All I get is an "A" on the display, the clock has disappeared and as a result the oven won't come on. I see from other postings here I can bypass the clock so that the oven works again - can anyone advise how I do this?
