GE JES1358 Microwave: lights are on but doesn't heat

We have a GE microwave oven, Model #Jes1358WL, that is 4 years old and suddenly stopped working yesterday. It worked fine for heating up some soup and a "Hot Pocket", but then after that, nothing. The display is working and the buttons beep when you press them, but when you press start, it clicks internally somewhere, interior light comes on and the timer starts counting down, but there is no noise and the turntable does not move. Is this something we can fix since we are out of the warranty period?

No Signs of Life
If it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty.

I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free or you may have to return it to the dealer.

GE Customer Service is here.

Usually they will go by the date on the tag on the oven to determine warranty.

First: never attempt heating pure water in a microwave, that is dangerous.

Ensure the oven is not set to the minimum power, otherwise the heating will be minimal.

Try heating some food at maximum power for two or three minutes, if it does not heat, take it back to the shop.
