Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Became new customer to comcast-got the bundle package, internet, phone, cable. Voice overlay modem to accomodate internet and phone lines. Did not use their wireless router-using exsiting router D-Link model DI-624 airplus xtreme wireless broadband router. I unplugged internet cable and plugged into our router ,thecable from the comcast modem, and took the connecting cable to transmit between the router and modem. Tried to connect to internet-nothing. The routers light are lit for m1 and wlan. I also have 2 additional computers that were connected wireless prior to comcast and 2 laptops. All the computers recognize the new connection nbut re unable to connect internet. I received a C:prompt in my start drop down and I typed in ipconfig /renew and it gave me connection specific for comcast, ip address, subnet mask and default gateway. Unable to figure out why I can't get connected, I placed cables back into original places. Right now I have internet access only directly from nain computer where comcast set it up. Please help I do not want to have to give comcast another cent to rent a router

Cannon mx 330 printer/fax. I plugged into the comcast modem for Tel 1 line then to the back of the cannon fax L. that didn't work so I connected it to the telephone line on the back of the fax..Help

The Pixma MX330 Line port needs to be connected to a POTS (plain old telephone service) line jack with an RJ-11 cable. A standard corded telephone or the base of a cordless system gets connected to the Tel port on the MX330. The Comcast modem connects devices to the internet. You might be able to use a VOIP (voice over internet protocol) service between the MX330 and the modem. You will need the appropriate hardware (MagicJack, Ooma) in between the modem and the Pixma and get an assigned telephone phone number.

Generally, you will need a compatible router to share the cable modem's internet service between any computers and a stand-alone VOIP system like the Ooma.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more about your Comcast hardware for additional information. I know my home's fiber-optic modem service does support POTS, in addition to the internet and TV service. Each service has their own wiring/jacks that go back to the modem.

My landline is hook up to ciso an thats hook up to netgear how do i make calls out

If it's a cable modem you should have your phone landline connected to the cable model, if you have a "bundle". TV, Broadband, Phone with your provider. For example: I have Comcast/Xfinity bundle, TV, Phone, High Speed Internet. At the Comcast Modem it has a Phone jack RJ-11 for landline and Fax and a RJ-45 for my Wireless Access Point and Ethernet cable.

I have just switche from comcast cable internet service to ATT thinking to save a little$ with bundling. My Linksys router worked fine with Comcast, but I cant get it to work with ATT ethernet. Does...

You have to use PPPOE and set it with your ATT username and password:

I have Comcast bundle service for my home that includes tv, phone and internet which is digital. Can I use the Sensaphone 400 with this digital system?

This model may not be used on a digital system. It can be used on a standard phone line only, only engineered to handle standard phone line with pulse or tone dialing. I hope this helps!

Yes i want to find out if a cable modem will work with your dsl phone internet service?

No.

A cable-modem connects with a coax-cable to the cable-company's network, but a DSL-modem connects with telephone-cable to the telephone-company's network.

Do I have to use the DSL filter. I have comcast phone service. thank you

The DSL Filter is only needed if you have a telephone and DSL service coming through on the same line. You are using Comcast digital voice, are you using them for cable internet as well?

I presume you are. then I would say you dont need the filters.
If you still have DSL and home phone then use the filters on the phone

Sending faxes

I believe if you have comcast it is a different signal coming in, you probably bought the package for VOIP capability when Comcast was having that promotion. The phone has to be a regular analog phone line not digital, that is probably your problem. Try changing the settings or line it should solve your problem, or call Comcast to guide you along. Cheers!!
