I hope you have this already fixed as I just joined. The problem that you are having is because older 2wire routers are not wireless routers. I know this because I have one. The solution that I used was to go buy a cheap wireless router and I plugged it in to the 2wire router. The wireless router will then pick up an ip address from the 2wire and then all you have to do is to plug your computer into one of the wired ports on the back of the wireless router and then your wireless devices will work just great. If you still need to get into the 2wire admin stuff you can always use a 4-5 port hub/switch. To set this up plug the hub/switch into the 2wire portal then plug your computer into the hub/switch and plug the wireless router into the hub/switch. (this is how I have it configured)

Good Luck

Make sure wireless switch is turned on in the laptop. it would be great to know what type of operating system you are using on this laptop. if it's XP, go to network connections on the control panel, right click it then view available wireless networks, you should be able to see your 2wire network. if it's on vista, go to start, connect to, then choose your 2wire network. if you're running Mac, click on the airport icon, then select the 2wire. all these things will let you type in a security key, just type the nos. enclosed in brackets at the bottom of your 2wire modem (just below the serial nos.)

    what?!?!?!

then you've got a software conflict, it's either your vista doesn't have WEP enabled on it or you may have an anti-virus software blocking the WEP encryption on your pc. Try disabling your AV temporarily, try changing the wireless channels & power settings on homeportal/management, clear out preferred networks under manage wireless networks on the network & sharing center. if these don't work disable your WEP encryption on the modem. you said you've had this problem for heck a long time and heck a lot, it could be your wireless card, maybe you need to reinstall the driver or might be some settings in your computer that is blocking it from wireless access....

one heck of advise, DON'T GIVE UP!!!

NetGear Gateway Access Problem

No to warner's locking the modem. 192.168.0.1 is the correct address for accessing the options within the modem. incidentally the Motorola wireless modem works better. Go on line to Netgear technical service and they will guide you through the task of setting up the system.

I've connected my Router to switch and through switch i connected two wireless Netgear N150 router where my router is gateway. My Problem is I can ping from Laptop to Router gateway but unable to ping from...

The two wireless routers THINK they are directly connected to the Internet and they prevent the WAN side ports from being pinged so hackers can't find out you have a device on the Internet. The devices will let you to the Internet without any problems, why do you need to ping from the router to the WiFi routers anyway. all of that is your internal network....
One thing that might fix this is if you can put the WiFi routers in BRIDGE mode. Some routers will let you do that, some won't. Don't put the router that is facing the internet into bridge mode. hackers will be able to see your whole network.

I got a problem in connecting my samsung galaxy GT-7500 to sitecom extender 300N .. I have tried to change the IP address but it doesn't work with me . Any help plz?

Which modes are you trying to use this Sitecom? If you have the Sitecom as your Access Point (AP Mode), then you would need a LAN connection to your internet gateway (DSL, Cable Modem, etc). I didn't see any LAN hook up so I assume you are trying to use it as a wireless repeater. So you need to configure the unit differently. The 3rd mode is called Bridge mode. Again, you need to have a LAN hook up to your local network with a router or network switch.
Because your Tablet is connecting to the Sitecom okay, which mean that you either have the Sitecom setting for AP mode or Bridge mode. And the reason it didn't give you access to internet because there is no internet gateway connection to the Sitecom (LAN). I hope this answer your question (or confuse you totally).

Trying to connect my ps3 to the internet but need wireless route

That won't work because your old sbc wireless router 2wire gateway is also a modem. You need a plain router for Time Warner. Try Linksys router.

My Gateway 507GR PC desktop will not connect to internet

Turn off (unplug if necessary) your modem, router, and PC. Then power on the modem, wait a minute and then power on the router, then power on your PC, this should solve your issue if you have service.

Says dsl has no connection, but yet on network it says connected. red light flashing on gateway unit

Your computer sees its connection to the gateway - that's your "connected" - without being connected to the internet. First check that all cables are securely plugged in, especially the cable from the phone jack to the gateway device. You may need to cycle power on the gateway device to restore the DSL connection, and you may need to reboot the computer afterward to reconnect to the Internet (depending on your OS).

How to wire a ps3

Hey allisc,

In order to connect your PS3 to the internet, you will need one of two things: a hard-wired connection, or a wireless residential gateway. Please keep in mind that your options may be limited by the PS3 model that you own, and that a wireless connection is not possible with some models.

The most straight-forward type of connection you can make is a hard-wired connection - simply use an Ethernet cable to connect your PS3 directly to your residential gateway. By establishing a direct connection, the PS3 should not need any additional information in order to access the internet. The trade-off for the simplicity of a hard-wired connection is that the number of places you can physically place the PS3 itself are limited by the length of Ethernet cable used.

Should you wish to use a wireless connection instead, you will need to own a 40GB, 60GB or 80GB PS3 and a wireless residential gateway. The 20GB model unfortunately does not support wireless capabilities at this time. Please keep in mind that connecting wirelessly can often prove to be more complex than using a direct connection, as you not only need the name of your router, but information on any established security settings as well.

The most common security settings that may be in place are Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) keys and Media Access Control (MAC) filters. MAC filters are essentially a series of "blacklists" and "whitelists" that restrict network access based on hardware configuration. WPA keys however, are "passwords" that allow your computer or video game console to decipher a code used by residential gateways which prevent unauthorized users from using your personal internet connection.

Both forms of security may typically be set and changed by accessing the gateway directly through its default website. This default website can vary depending on the brand of the device, but many companies may use one of the two default addresses I've provided below:

192.168.0.1
or
192.168.1.1

Please keep in mind that in order to access the gateway's control panel you will need to have both the admin user name and password!

Once you have gotten access to your residential gateway's control panel, you should then be able to add the MAC address of your PS3 to the gateway’s MAC filters, as well as copy down any WPA key used by the network so that you may later enter it into your PS3's memory.

If you are still not sure how to proceed or do not feel comfortable doing any of this, I would strongly suggest contacting either your internet service provider (ISP) or a Geek Squad® agent at your local Best Buy™ store for further assistance.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
