My 4 year old APD 3955 stopped working. You can load any DVD or CD and the "loading" message begins at start up but the next message is No Disc. Is the laser burned out? How can I check the laser?

Check the lens, sometimes dirt gets in there. Try to run a DVD cleaning disk... they are sold at many places, they are cheap and you can still use them for cleaning your CD players and DVD players at home. This should fix the problem.... if not ... try to shake the DVD player gently to remove any foreign matter that could be stuck somewhere...good luck!

I have a accurian portable dvd player APD-3955 and it works but the charger doesnt charge it anymore. Now the battery died and I was wondering if it just needs a new charger. I got it June 2008.

I had the same problem and I found out that is definitely the battery. I had used mine only a few counted times and after 1 year the battery would not charge. I would plug it and the charge light would turn on and stayed for about 4 minutes and then turned off. I called axion and talk to customer support. The tech said that the internal batteries only last for a year whether you use the DVD or not. They would replace the battery for $60 + shipping costs. As you can see... it is not worth it....sometimes you are lucky and get good stuff for cheap but sometimes... you just get what you pay for.... and this is one of the cases. Yes, I am also very disapponted. What a piece of junk!!!! I can still watch DVD with either the charger plugged in or with the car charger. But it lost its Portable side.....

My acurrian apd-3955 doesn't charge and play dvds

after 2 or 3 years of service the battery needs to be replaced.

Batteries have a finite charging "cycles". These cycles runs out every time you charge the battery.
