Err: bad address when unarchiving

I received a new program for my TI-84 plus silver ed. and it worked fine. However, I archived it and upon attempting to unarchive it I receive the mssge. err: bad address. I tried once more and I noticed that I lost the amount of RAM that the program takes up even though it was unarchived still. I deleted the program, but it was a 900 byte prog. and I still don't have the 1800 RAM that I lost.

Ti helper has a correct answer but you may want to try garbage collecting first. To do this press 2nd catalog and then g and then press enter when you find garbage collect. Then enter again and say yes. This should give you back the mem if not you need to reset the ram.

I have attempted to transfer an inequalz app from on TI 84 plus calc. to another TI 83 plus via the black serial cable. I get the following on the screen of both calculators. ERR:memory 1:Quit 2: Goto...

The problem may be due to a lack of memory in the receiving calculator. Check size of the Inequalz application, the size of the archive memory left on the TI83 Plus, and the number of application spaces that Inequalz requires. An application may require 1,2 or more application spaces. You will have to go to education.ti.com to get the information.
Also, make sure that the batteries are good in both calculators.

I was using a program that I entered into the program area of my TI-84. It worked perfectly and then I went to use it again, now I get this error message that says :ERR:DATA TYPE. What does this mean?

If it worked perfectly before then it should continue doing so. However when you used it the second time something might have changed in the variable you are feeding it. Foe example if the program needs a parameter A that is supposed to be integer (whole number) but now A stores a decimal value then A is of the wrong data type and the program complains.
I think you should clear all variables and all lists and restart the program. It may be safer to archive the program, then reset the RAM of the calculator. After that, unarchive it and run it.

On my TI-83+ when trying to unarchive a app I get ERR: VARIABLE. I have deleted the app but when I put it back on my calculator it was archived again and I got the same message.

Applications on the TI-83+ cannot be unarchived. Flash applications on the TI calculators need to stay archived until they are run; it is the way the calculator functions. The application should run fine the way it is. Programs, on the other hand, can only be run while unarchived and in the memory. Are you sure you don't mean to unarchive a program instead of a flash application?

How do I unarchive a A+Alg2 application on my ti-84 Plus Silver Edition?

Press 2ND [MEM] 2 to bring up the memory management menu (MEM is on the + key). Select either All or APPS. Scroll down to the item to be unarchived. Press ENTER and the asterisk indicating that it is archived will turn off. If it is already unarchived, pressing ENTER will turn on the asterisk, indicating that is now archived.

My TI-84 calculator says "Garbage Collecting" and won't work, how should I reset it?

Found at www.epsstore.ti.com

What can be done if a TI-83 Plus family or TI-84 Plus family calculator displays Garbage Collecting... for more than 20 minutes?

The garbage collection allows the cleanup of unused archive memory. It deletes unarchived variables from the user data archive and it rearranges the remaining variables into consecutive blocks. When a variable is unarchived, the Archive free memory amount increases immediately, but the space is not actually available until after the next garbage collection.

If garbage collecting is more than 20 minutes, the calculator has possibly locked up and will need to be reset.

The reset procedure will delete all the items that are in the memory of the graphing calculator. Use the reset procedure below:
• Remove 1 AAA battery.
• Press and hold down the [DEL] key.
• While holding down the [DEL] key, replace the AAA battery, and press the [ON] Key.

The message Waiting... Please install calculator software should appear. At this point, it will be necessary to reinstall the calculator's operating system.
• Connect the calculator to the computer using the TI Connectivity Cable or DirectUSB Cable.

Please post if this was helpful...
• In Windows®, click on Start >> Programs >> TI Tools >> TI Connect >> TI OS Downloader.
• In MacOS® X, open Hard Drive >> Applications >> TI Connect >> TI OS Restore.
• Follow the directions on screen to reinstall the calculator's operating system.
Access the link following for detailed instructions on how to complete operating system installation.
