Clarion Marine Problem w Sirius CeNet Unit

I have a two year old M455 head unit with a Siius CeNet (I think CL1) attached. I used it all day Moday, Shut off the boat and disconnected the battery, now the headunit will not recognize the attached sirius box. I have tried the reset on the head unit (little button), but no luck. I have also disconnected the headunit from the sirius, the headunit from power.... no dice. Tried calling Clarion tech support, left message, no response.

I've disconnect the sirius unit from the radio for a day, and removed the wiring harness from the radio for a few minutes. Since the marine radio tends to hold onto the programming longer (the boat battery is shut off for a days at a time), it still won't recognize the sirius unit. Should I unplug the radio while it's on?

the radio/cd/aux work fine. just can't seem to 'see' the sirius box. I even unplugges all of it and left it out overnight. Came back next morning and sill the same, CD?tuner/aux all fine, no SIRI unit. when you say software, you mean the internal programming that should restore after it sits for awhile? is the software in the Sirius unit or headunit?

I understand. The unit worked fine for a year and three days. One evening, i shut everything off (w switch), took off face plate, and turned off battery switch on the boat. Next morning, I turned battery on, then the headunit (like i have been for over a year) and the headunit would not recognize the sirius being attached. That's when I started this adventure. I have been able to run the stero fine and have used it for three days w the SIRI unit unhooked, but when I go to re-attach (sing your guidelines), no show. I'm think ing that something crrapped out in the siri unit?

Yes, unplug it while its on and try leaving both unplugged for an hour or so and connect them while unplugged and see if they recognize each other

If this doesn't work then you may need new software which may have gotten corrupted somehow, just reload it on and see if that fixes it

Please update me on this and I will help you further if the above doesn't work

Thank you for using Fixya and Good luck

the Siri software most likely would be the culprit

You could try buying a different one and seeing if that one works on your boat, and then return it.

By doing this you can determine exactly which device is having the problem.

When a CD changer or Sirius satellite receiver is added to a system, the source unit’s main wiring harness must be disconnected before the changer and/or satellite receiver’s CeNET cable is connected to the source unit. Otherwise, the source unit will not “recognize” that a CD changer or Sirius satellite receiver has been added.

My sirius reciever in my boat worked fine until this year now it wont work antenna is only two years old and it is a high quality marine antenna could it be the reciever it is hooked to a clarion radio...

Oxidation from humidity could have tarnished a connector somewhere. Make sure all connectors are clean and shiny first. It could be that the receiver is bad. A stereo shop should be able to check that for you easily.

Constantly goes to "linking" whenever I select Sirius. Sirius tells me that means an antenna problem. However, I have tried a new antenna with the same results.

The unit needs to be replaced. solder pins on the PC board of the unit are broken. Clarion has about 100,000 of these units with the same problem. You can find a replacement online for $50 that's been fixed & the problem should not re-occur. Sorry for the bad news. Hope this helps
