I have a sony LCD projection TV that keeps turning off. The light blinks for a few seconds and I have to manually turn it back on...can I fix this myself or do I need to hire someone?? Please help!!!

I have the same issue with my Sony WEGA KDFE55A20, It will turn on (picture and all), then the lamp goes out.
The TV is still on (Power Indicator is green), then after 3-5 minutes the lamp comes back on (Picture returns).
When the lamp is off there is no picture or sound.
Look carefully at the front lights. Usually when these sets shutdown they have a blink code on either the standby light or the lamp light. Update this with those counts. In the meantime, you may be seeing a problem with heat. If the lamp area gets too hot, the set will shutdown the lamp. Once the area is cool again, the lamp will fire.
Update this and we'll hopefully fix the both of them.
