Re: HP DV6000 Laptop
Find someone to go do this for you. Or ... send it in if it's under warranty. Have you ever taken a laptop apart? Not easy, but putting it back together can be harder, especially on the laptop.
You can go to the HP website and see about ordering a keyboard. Try me. Go to HP and enter 'HP DV6000 laptop" in the search area. You'll need to go thru the scores of model numbers to find your system. Then they will probably send the wrong keyboard, or even a mouse. Get someone to do it for you.

Please go to control panel >> keyboard >> hardware >> properties>> drivers and try to update drivers and check. If it is still not working it needs to be replaced. If your laptop is less than one year old, get to replaced from manufacturer.
Try cleaning the DVD drive with compressed air, if it still does not work try cleaning the drive with a DVD disk cleaner. if it still does not work and the software for the DVD drive has been confirmed as operational then the drive is dead and needs replacement.
