I have a vizio lcd tv. Recently I was watching it and a noise like a gunshot went off from the television. I lost sound and picture. When I turn the tv on I get the bottom lights that light up the vizio logo and the touch panel for operating the tv but they eventually fade away like they should. I get no more "click" when I turn it on. Is this a power board or main board problem? I have ordered both through viz parts website in hopes that just one of them is out and it saves me the problems of sending stuff back and forth. But lets say neither fix it, what else could it be? There is one other small board on the back of the tv, but from what Vizio said that couldn't be the problem? Thanks
Hello, sounds like a capacitor blew inside possibly your power supply was fualty or the capacitor that blew overheated and cuase the sound its typical noice a capaciotr makes when it blows.. hope this helps

hello, it may be another board besides the power supply i couldnt say exactly without opening up the set and checking voltage outputs, thats why i said "possibly your power supply" but your right, it may or may not be the psu, my answer is based on the description and the noise you heard this is how they sound when they go, and the reason it may be still partially powering up is becuase becuase lcd and plasma power supply have hot and cold sides they work with ac and dc theres two working types of volatges in a power supply some voltages go trough the supply and are conditioned to power up the remaining boards and screen drives while the dc sides work with digital controlls and circuts and with less power and may still be functional or visa versa, seems your on the right track, either way i hope your able to trouble shoot it and get it back up and running.. good luck to you.

If a capacitor blew on the power supply, wouldn't that make the power supply defunct? Trying to figure why when I hit the power button I still get the vizio logo lighting up along with the touch buttons on the tv. I'll find out for sure come monday when the parts are delivered and I try each one in place of the other and see which is blown!
got the parts. was the power board.
