Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Hello, I have a side-by-side Samsung Refrig from Costco. I freezer started to ice up today. I removed the ice maker compartment and took some of hte freezer items out to provide more room for the air to circulate. I don't think the evaporator motor is working. I can't hear the noise it usually makes. Suggestions? How can I be sure it's the evaporator motor? Where can I get a new one if this one is no good? Where do I get a diagram on how to replace the evaporator motor? Thanks, Jorge Luis Parra Cell: 619-368-6293

The evaporator fan motor will not run when you have the door open - you have to press the door switch in to make it run.

But if you are doing this and the fan is still not running then this explains the evaporator ice up problem.

You will have to take it apart (make sure that the power is off) and just unplug the evap fan (usually just plugged in)

Usually these fans are a standard type of fan and you will be able to get one from a electical wholesaler or just call samsung and get one from them - make sure you have the model number with you when you order it though.

Kitchenaid ice maker dripping and freezing down freezer shelfs

Tube sometimes freezes because of minerals in it hold one droplet at a time until buildup freezes solid. Replace tube first. Water valve allowing some droplets through can also cause this. Tube first-less expensive.

Check the circulation fan in the freezer compartment that circulates the cold to the fresh food compartment. If its not running, and no ice is on it to bind uo the blades, replace the motor.

Roaring sound

I have had the same issues. I have owned my LFX25960 for 18 months. All the cooling, noise, and condensation problems are related to 2 fans. One for the freezer/refrigerator compartments and One for the Ice Maker. The fans, apparently, are not sufficient to move enough air through the coils located behind a plastic panel in the freezer compartment. The part numbers for my fans are 1. Ice Maker 4681JB1029E and Refrig/Freezer 4681JK1004E. It is not impossible, but fairly difficult to replace them yourself. You have to remove the large slide out freezer drawer and glides. Then work the back freezer panel loose from the bottom. Be careful not to break it. It is plastic.
Routine maintenance: Pull the refrig out from the wall and blow-out the coils and fan located on the lower right rear. You might find it easier to do this by removing the cover on the lower, back of the refrig.

My GSS22SGRE Side by Side freezer & Refrig temp is too warm

Possible the defrost thermostat is bad and need to be replaced. Not allowing the evaporator coil ice buildup to melt , which acts like an insulation and restricts the air flow in the freezer compartment.

Water leaking from bottom of unit

For original poster: Check all milky white colored (polyethelne) plastic water lines. These lines tend to get brittle and can crack over a period of time. They extend from the water valve to the ice maker, and from the water valve to the inside of the refrig to a "radiator" so the water can chill, before it runs back out the refrig, past the left side of the refrig behind the bottom grill, through a coupler, and up through the bottom hinge of the freezer door. I'd also advise putting in a separate shut off for the water supply to the refrig so you can have water to the rest of your house when you have a problem with the refrig.

For next user with similar problem: you can check the above, but it may be that the defrost drain is plugged. (on a S x S unit, it is located at the bottom of the freezer compartment, behind the back wall.) If you have a layer of ice on the floor of the freezer, that's a dead give away of a blocked defrost drain tube, Use a turkey baster with hot (not boiling) water to flush it out.
