Question about Sony DCR-VX2000 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Audio export When recording anything, sound is clearly heard on the camera during playback, but all of a sudden when exporting the movie via dv cable to computer, video is going but sound is not. When the tape is removed from the camera and placed in a different dv camera, sound exports with the video just fine. This is a new problem; have had no problem for years with this camera. I assume it is somehow a setting I can't find, but no idea what.

Can't hear audio on video playback (neither direct from camera nor from pc)

This is because the camera is not capable to record the sound. The camera was not designed with any audio speakers to be able to record and playback sound recorded during movie mode.

Export movie from an older TRV68 to computer

Hi,

I purchased a canon elura 100. The 100 has a AV -> DV converter. This allow you to tunnel your Sony via a 3.5mm 4-pole mini AV to mini AV camcorder A/V cable to your computer.

Sony (via AV out) -> (AV) Canon -> PC/Mac (DV) via fire wire cable

Exporting video

ok, this is only a PC experience(via USB) but it may be the issue you face:

importing video has one catch with this camera---always have to remind myself:

you have to set the camera to playback mode (pretty normal, only use PC mode to get still photos off the SD card)

but before you hook up here's the catch:

go into the menu, setup screen on the camera itself. there you will find you have to choose between something like "act as webcam" or "DV playback". The camera can be a webcam, but it cannot do that and send video to the computer.

this is the setting I always forget---and I don;t even use it as a webcam that often.

hope this helps you too

Audio Problem with Firewire

The input select switch on the front of the AJ-D230H needs to be in the "OPTION" position, not "LINE". That may help if all the other settings are correct. You will also have to make sure that you have selected the right codecs for the deck that you are using in the software. I am speaking as a Final Cut Pro user so only offer this as a suggestion as these are the things that work from out of Final Cut.

Good luck. It can be very frustrating, but awesome when it all comes together and works right!!!
