Mercury Motherboard PI845GLM-L manual needed for wire connections... please help me

If my information is correct;

Orient the motherboard so that we are both looking at it in the same direction,
Processor to the top, Ram Memory slots to the right, white PCI slots to the bottom.

The front plastic panel of your computer that has the Power On button, Harddrive activity LED light, and Power On LED light, is the Front Panel.

The area of pins on the motherboard, that the wires from the Front Panel go to, is the Front Panel header.

The Front Panel header is all the way down on the right corner. Panel 1.

The Front Panel header, or Panel 1, is a rectangular block that is positioned lengthwise, across the bottom of the motherboard.

There are 4 pins across the Top, and 5 pins across the Bottom.

The pins are numbered.
They are numbered Even across the Top row.
Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8. (There is NO Pin 10. Just a blank spot)

They are numbered Odd across the Bottom row.
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive activity LED light. (HDD LED)
Pin 1 is for the Positive wire. ( + )
{ Pin 2 is for the Negative wire. ( - ) }

If the LED light is dim when operating, turn the wires around.

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for a Reset switch, (Reset button), IF a Reset switch is used.
Pin 5 is for the Negative wire

C) Pin 9 is RVSD_DNU
Reserved Do Not Use.

D) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On LED light.
Pin 2 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.

If the LED light is dim turn the wires around.

E) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

I have an Asus P5QL PRO Motherboard and I'm trying to connect the FP audio and I need some help on how to connect it up properly. On the heaphones lead I have 4 connectors: EAR R EAR L RETURN...

Hi

Pin arrangement for Front panel Audio is usually:

Pin 1 Left MIC-IN Pin 1 right GROUND
Pin 2 Left MIC VVC (or MIC Power, or MIC BIAS) Pin 2 Right empty
Pin 3 Left R EAR (or R OUT) Pin 3 Right R RETURN
Pin 4 Ground or Empty Pin 4 Right empty
Pin 5 Left L EAR (or L OUT) Pin 5 Right L RETURN

This arrangement should apply to both the HD AA/FP or the Standard AC'97 Headers.

I hope this helps

The Picture below shows you the locations of the places to put those wires are in relation to your motherboard. In yellow is the power switch and such. and the audio connection is in red.

The Pin layout for the power and other connector are as follows:

the layout for the audio header is as follows: avatar23454_8.jpg

To install the cable that connects a front panel audio solution to the front panel audio header, follow these steps:
  1. Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the computer. Turn off the computer and disconnect the AC power cord.
  2. Locate the front panel audio header (J8A1).
  3. Remove the three jumpers from the header (this disables the back panel audio connectors).
  4. Install a correctly keyed and shielded front panel audio cable.
  5. Connect the audio cable to the front panel audio solution.

To restore back panel operations follow these steps:
1. Remove the front panel audio cable. 2. Install a jumper on pins 5-6 (rear R channel). 3. Install a jumper on pins 9-10 (rear L channel). 4. Install a jumper on pins 1-2 (mic). 5. Replace the cover.

I HAVE A NEW CASE, & NEED TO CONNECT THE FRONT UBB & AUDIO LEADS. CAN YOU HELP, CHEERS

Hi there, first check the image below. You've got USB 3 and 4, and AUDIO section. For the USB, pins 1 and 2 represent front panel USB power on both 3 and 4. As for AUDIO connection, pin 1 is Front Panel Microphone input signal, pin 3 is Microphone Power, pins 5 and 6 are for Right Channel audio signal to Front Panel and pins 9 and 10 are for Left Channel audio signal to Front Panel.

You can find more details in the motherboard's manual, page 23 and 24.

I switched gabinets and the new one has a audio and mic imput on the front and i need to connect them the the MB corectly and idk where to plug them

The PCChips support page for your board is here, where you can download the full manual as well as drivers or other information you may need. This picture shows the front panel audio header location (AUDIO1):

pgh_pa_guy.png

And here is the pin information:

pgh_pa_guy_0.png

I believe the header complies with standard layout, so the plug on the cable to the front panel audio connectors on your new case may fit as-is. Or on many cases the wires have individual connectors on the ends to push over the pins. If yours is like this, you can put them on the correct pins by following the table. The wires are marked with their functions.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!
