My ipod stopped charging altogether. Is there anything I can do myself to trouble shoot to find out what is wrong or do I have to take to a computer store to see what is wrong?
Can i ask a question has it sat idle for a while if so leave it on the charger for a few days i promise it will charge, now i mean if it has been uncharged for at least a month.
Hi,Here is the solution to your problem;its
easy ,go to device manager and delete all the usb devices then goto control panel and delete ipod, but not itunes that way you will still have your songs and playlists, then reinstall the device if it works then well done i had that before and that worked for me, if not get a new battery there not that good on the ipod dont last long so get a new one and see what happens good luck

I probably have the same type charger / player that I also purchased from Wal Mart. If it plays your ipod it should also charge it. Make sure the lock button on the ipod is unlocked and it's turned off. If that does not work keep it unlocked and leave it on. On systems like we have that are not iHomes they sometimes have trouble figuring out what brand they need to charge.

You're not doing anything wrong. Newer iPods and the iPhone require accessories that were specifically designed for them. For example, the iPod interface in my car will not charge my iPhone, however, I can still play music through it.
The only solution is to: 1: Buy a SoundDock II or 2: Charge your ipod seperately.
If it used to light up before and after a couple of years use it just stopped...it is possible that it burned out. Happened to my laptop. Google "ipod repairs" and get a link to authorized repair centers that replace screen. Some will trouble shoot it for you and if the part isn't needed you won't be charged. If the part is needed, they provide it and if you hurry...you won't be charged for labor. They have a promotion going on right now! Good luck!!
This usually happens if the iPod wheel is defective, sometimes caused by getting in contact with water sometimes simply through wear and tear. If you're out of warranty, There are specialized online tutorials with iPod Repair instructions that will guide you through the steps of taking it apart and replacing the wheel altogether otherwise you'll have to send it to any third party iPod repair service and they'll replace the wheel for you.
