How do I disable the flash on my camera?

Look at the thumb pad on the back of your camera (see picture below, courtesy of www.cameras.co.uk). The uppermost part of it acts not only as an up key in the menu selections, but in shooting modes controls the flash (as per the lightning symbol next to it). With the camera turned on and in automatic mode (the green camera icon on the mode selector dial) just press the flash button and look at the screen. Eventually you'll get an icon of a lightning flash behind a red circle with a bar across it, this disables the flash.

Note that if you have any of the other shooting modes selected then the flash may still operate as in those modes everything is pre-selected by the camera with no or few override options.

I hope this fixes your problem, please take a moment to rate my free answer.

Not able to choose between flash settings

Take the camera out of the AUTO or Easy (heart) mode. In these two modes, only Auto is available for the flash.

How do you turn the flash on? (with the vivitar vivicam 8018)

Your camera has a built in flash function which enables you to take photos when the light condition is not good.

1. Press the Up button. (for reference of buttons, please see the below figure mentioned)
2. Press the Up button once until you see the icon appear on the LCD screen. This indicates that the flash is forced on.
3. Press the Up button again to change to the auto flash function.
4. The icon will appear at the top of the LCD indicating that the auto flash is turned on and ready to use.
5. Press the Up button again to change from the auto flash to the red eye function.
6. The icon will appear on the LCD indicating that the red eye reduction function has been activated.
7. To turn off the flash function, press the Up button again until the icon is displayed on the LCD.

Note: A “Low Power” message will appear on the LCD screen, if you select the flash function when the battery power is insufficient. To continue using the camera with the flash, please change new batteries

I bought a Sony DSC t700 approximately 6 months

If the built-in flash does not function, then the camera may be set to Auto and will only flash when taking pictures in poorly illuminated environments.
To set the camera to the Forced flash setting so it will flash regardless of the surrounding brightness, press the UP ARROW on the control button until a lightning bolt icon appears on the LCD screen.

If the Forced flash setting is already enabled and the flash is still not working, then the issue may be due to another camera setting. Even if the Forced flash setting is enabled, the flash will still not work in the following circumstances:
When shooting MPEG movies
When set to the Twilight mode
If an external flash is connected
If in the Burst or Multi Burst mode

Please touch the MENU option on the screen of the Camera.
Then, select the REC MODE under the MENU.
Then, select NORMAL under the REC MODE.

If you're not able to select the NORMAL under the REC MODE, try Initializing the Camera.

First, please touch the HOME on the LCD screen of the Camera.
Then, select the SETTINGS in the HOME menu.
Then, select the MAIN SETTINGS under the SETTINGS.
Then, select the Initialize under the MAIN SETTINGS.

If the issue still persists after performing the troubleshooting steps provided above service of the Camera is required.

It's required to physically examine the Camera to determine the exact issue at the service center.
