Whirlpool MH1150XM Where do I send my control board to be repaired? Replaced bulb w/ power on. Blew trace on control board. Repaired but still does not operate. Display works fine - counts down but no CL, HL, TT or micro cook.

Did not read directions on replacing light bulb under micro. Must have blown something. Micro timers, display, etc work...micro does not! Top over display was hot so we removed the display part and found that we burned up some electrical board with black boxes and little pin things and mumbo jumbo back there. How or can we repair this and is it worth it or should we just buy a new micro? We have the Whirlpool MH1150XMS0. It is discontinued. If we need a new one, what is a comparable model that we (lay folks) can just stick in the place of the old one?

How do I access the fuses

You may have a bad fuse. It should be located behind the control panel. The fuse will look like the old auto glass fuses about 1/4 diameter and 1 1/4 inch long but made out of a ceramic material you can't see through. Color could be white--brown or a gray color. Amp size will be stamped on the end usually 15 or 20 amps. Should be a few screws around control panel to get it loose.

We replaced the light in the hood (over the stove) and there was a spark and now neither the hood nor the microwave works. We reset the circuit breaker but it did not fix the problem. Do we need a buy a...

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid with a one year guarantee.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan, cooling fan, turntable, and/or inside light operation, too.

Details of our service are at our Web site, along with a video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If you prefer, you can order a new control circuit board and install it.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below), remove the damaged circuit board and insert the new one.

The range-top light blew and now replacement bulbs

My Whirlpool/Roper microwave/hood combo has the same problem. I replaced the bulb twice, checked the bulb and it works, but not in the microwave. I wrote to Whirlpool asking about the problem. Haven't heard from them yet.

Replacement bulbs still do not work

Most electronic control boards have undersized circuit wires that can't handle a catastrophic lamp failure. The circuit trace will open like a fuse. If you or someone knows how to use a soldering iron, this can be repaired.
1. Remove the top grille. (Two screws on top)
2. Remove screw above button panel. Push up on panel to remove.
3. Remove circuit board from panel. Look on reverse side for open circuit trace.
4. Repair circuit trace...lights work again....

Under Hood Light, bulb is fine (brand new)

This is a problem with the control board, which we commonly repair for $32.50. This is caused by not disconnecting the microwave from the power line when removing or installing a bulb. Feel free to e-mail me at _ for more information or visit _ for full details.
