If you are in need for a three digit code; remove the first Zero from each code and take the rest three digits.
Eg: for 0001 [four digit code] (001) is its three digit code. OK.

Its likely that the new new remote control has specific codes for the components it can operate. You should look to the remote manual or online source to find the code(s) for the DVD player you have. Without knowing the remote you purchased, its hard to locate codes for you.
It could be that the monitor was installed upside-down; other than that, check the settings on whatever device your feeding video to the screen with- a PC, a DVD player? It might have rotation settings.
