Marantz SR 5200/6200 lost audio or crackling on left or right channel except in mode s-direct is now fixed !
The root cause is a defective integrated circuit on DSP board (the one with digital inputs). To fix it change the chip CS4391 by a new one or better by the improved version CS4392. On my device a capacitor was cut close to this IC : replace one 1uF after changing the IC. For any question search me with my callsing "F5RCT"; i have a spare IC for the one who is able to change it !

Not having the ability to look at it on the bench, more than likely your DSP chip is bad. If you have a local repair house that is willing to confirm that is the problem without charging you an arm and a leg, that's your best bet. It is an expensive repair, anywhere between 300 to 500. At that point, I would say to replace the unit. Sorry for the bad news, but that's my "best guess" The only other thing to check would be your "Audio input Settings" Make sure it's either on "Auto" or whichever type you are using. "Digital Coaxial", "Optical", or "Analog" (RCA) hope this helps! If you have any further questions, just post a reply and I can help further. Best of luck!

Hi, I have the same problem, but only with the right channel. It works in s-direct, but not in any sorround mode. The chip on DSP has been replaced twice (actually it's a 5 dollar IC) but it doesn't fix the problem. Looks like the main controller doesn't send the right signal to the DSP to switch on both channels. It's a 14 bit signal, but I am unable to catch it with regular scope equipment. I could by the main controller but no chance to program it. Any chance that a repair house can do that for me?

You can select the display mode for the front display of the SR7001.To select this mode, press the DISPLAY on the remote control or the front panel.When this button is pressed, the display mode is switched in the following sequence.Input Mode ? Surround Mode ? Auto display OFF ? Display OFF ? Normal Mode ? Input Mode Normal Mode: Displays the selected input function. If the function has been renamed using the Function Rename feature (see page 26), the renamed name appears on the display. Input Mode: Displays the input mode set via the Function Input Setup feature (see page 25). Surround Mode: Displays the status of the selected surround mode. Auto Display Off mode: The display is off. But, if you make a change to the unit such as the input or surround mode, the display will show that change, then go back to off after about 3 seconds. I assume that the Marantz has an Optical lead input. If so you should connect an digital optical lead directly between the PS3 and the Marantz receiver for the sound while keeping the HDMI lead to the projector for the picture. You will need to configure the PS3 to be outputting the sound to the optical output (done through the settings menu).

DSP (Digital Signal Processing) Board is probably defective or has Poor solder Connection on one of the Ic's on that board. Board cannot be Obtained from Marantz. Must be troubleshot at component Level and requires a very knowledgable tech to repair it. I have done a few of these in the past and usually charge $50 to Evaluate and Give estimate. Sr7200 LFE (sub woofer) output stopped working

Chances are if The Receiver only has sound in Stereo Direct Mode and all surround modes and Sub out are Inop the DSP (Digital Signal Processing) Card is most likey defective. These boards are not available from marantz (D&M Holdings) and must be Component level repaired which usually is not cheap. If Only the Sub out is not working check setup to be sure sub woofer is set for on. Also If On Screen setup menu does not appear on video monitor Unit may need to be Reset manually which entails discharging a Capaitor on main P.C.B Contact [email protected] for details

Statics and hissing...

I also have the same fault, The static noise is coming out
of ic720 [ cs4391 or cs4392 ]on digi pcb which is D-A converter
this ic maybe faulty, i have ordered a replacement ic and will
post here if solves problem
