I need to find out how to secure my wireless D-Link Dir-625

If you need you Security Key or Key Code (Network Key) on your router you need to access the Wireless Settings Page. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.0.1, the Default username is admin and the password is blank. Go to the Wireless Settings and under Security Mode you'll find the Network Key or Passphrase. You can alsoThen Personalize you Network Key or Passphrase so that you can easily remember it.

Set you router to WPA security:
For this DIR-625 router if the encryption is set to WEP it could only give up to 54mbps wireless connection. If it is set to WPA it can give up more than 100mbps wireless connection, but it depends if the wireless adapter in the computer is also a Draft N adapter. Its a backward compatibility.

Is there any computer connected to the router ?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router.
Do not change any wireless settings on the router with the wireless computer.
you will need to connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable.
check the IP address of the computer.
open the router set up page of the router.
Here you can change the wireless settings of the router.
Now once you change the network anme and security on the router, you will need to connect to the wireless network on your wireless computers.

Usual problems are making sure that you select the correct security options at both ends and then DHCP problems. I would disable DHCP on the mac and select your own IP address above the existing ones to start with

You need to open the router's setup page (admin page) http://192.168.0.1 to enable the wireless security

and you will find all the info you need regarding port forwarding through your D-Link router.

The page is specific to the DIR-625 but just about any make/model is supported at http://portforward.com/

The vista is wireless?
Right click the computer icon on the bottom right hand>click connect to a network>then click network and hit connect if its secure it will ask you for the security if not just click connect anyway.
