You can easily check your internet speed by checking it online via this website, http://www.ip-details.com/ . It helped me to check my PC's internet speed in it.
You need to check speed of internet coming to ps3. maybe you have a good connection with the wireless, but a low speed coming to ps3.
try turning off anything that use internet for some time and test it.

Upgrade to the newest firmware, since 3.0 had some freezing issues with some games, if your internet connection is slow it would also cause it to freeze up

yea, this is crazy. mine has corrupted 3 times, so this forth time, every time I'm done playing,wait 30 seconds/ i sign everyone's gamer tag out/ go back to the main menu of call of duty/hold the middle button of the remote controller/ a list pops up and you click QUIT GAME/ then you get to your home page and you wait for 30 seconds at the home page/ then you simply hold down the power button at the front of your play station until the light on your play station turns red/ then you hit the main power switch at the main back of your console.
this method has worked for months
currently i prestiged 5 times and on level 44. not to brag or anything
