SOURCE: Blinking amber light on modem icon

that means there is usually a problem with your modem. you know how to hook up a router, right? usually you unplug power from both devices, plug in your modem and let it load, then plug in your router. (with some isp's id will work the other way around.

If the reset did not help ,i would suggest you talk to the Belkin Support team and get a replacement. Since its a new router, I assume it has an up to date firmware .

I bought a Belkin wireless router. I went thru the setup but am not sure I completed it and have not been able to figure out how to start over however my pc is recognizibg the router but will not connect...

1. A solid amber light means that either you have lost connectivity with the ISP or you have a power supply malfunction. Contact the Internet Service Provider to check your line connectivity to your premise.
2. There is a caption under the light that will tell you which it is .
If a cable it will say "link". If DSL it will be "dsl" .
Your power will be "pwr" or Power and it will be green

Is the smaller light onto of the router (just below the larger green light) supposed to stay on when connected and if so, is it supposed to be green? Have seen it in yellow and red but it is not staying...

The second light is for your wi-fi protected setup. If it solid green then you have a secure connection. Blinking means looking for device. Amber means a connection was not connected. Off means idle.
