The real problem with the Comcast remote is that there is no other brand, it's not like a Sony remote that's relabeled or anything. Fortunately, Google helps again, and it turns out Comcast has a page online about programming the Comcast remote control.
i need to program my cable box - comcast_remote.jpgComcast 3-in-1 remote control To program the remote to work with your Sony TV, you need to take the following steps:

  1. Find the code or codes for your TV from Comcast's list [PDF]
  2. Turn your TV on
  3. On the remote, press and release the TV key on the very top of the remote.
  4. Press and hold the Setup key, until the "TV" key flashes twice, then release the "Setup" key.
  5. Using the number pad, enter in the first 4-digit code found next to your television brand on the chart. If you do this correctly the "TV" key will flash twice. Now it's programmed!
  6. Now point the remote at your TV and press the Power key. If the TV turns off, you're golden. If not, try again with the next code on the list.

Change cable box control

To change the cable box control, you will need to do the following:
  1. Locate the cable box remote: Most cable boxes come with a remote control that allows you to change the channels and adjust the volume.
  2. Change the cable box settings: Use the remote to access the cable box's menu and change the settings as needed. This may include selecting a new channel, adjusting the volume, or changing the aspect ratio.
  3. Pair the remote with the cable box: If you have a universal remote, you may need to pair it with your cable box in order to control it. This typically involves pressing a button on the remote that allows it to search for compatible devices, then selecting your cable box from the list of available devices.
  4. Program the remote to control other devices: If you have a universal remote, you may also be able to program it to control other devices, such as your TV and sound system.
If you're having trouble changing the cable box control, you may need to consult the cable box manual or contact the cable company for further assistance.

Need code to an rca universl remote to control a magnavox tv

RCA Universal Remote Control Programming Codes Programming Your Universal Remote.

The remote may already be set up to operate your brand of TV, VCR, or Cable Box. It is pre-programmed with following codes:
  • TV-000
  • VCR-000
  • Cable Box-000
  • AUX is programmed with VCR code 037
For brands that require programming, there are two ways to program: Using Code Lists or Code Search. Use Code Search if the code lists are not available or if the codes from the lists do not operate a device.

Programming a Device using Code Search:

  1. Manually turn ON your device (TV, VCR, Cable Box)
  2. Press and "HOLD" CODE SEARCH
  3. Press and release the device button you want to set up (TV, VCR, Cable Box) However, if you are using AUX for a device, press and release AUX first and then the device button for the type of device to be programmed (TV, VCR, or Cable). The selected device button will flash once.
  4. Release CODE SEARCH.
  5. Press OFF/ON repeatedly until the device turns off (you may have to press up to 100 times at a rate of once per second).
  6. Once the device turns off, press and release ENTER.
  7. With the device on, press any other button. If the device responds, no further programming is required. If the device does not respond, repeat steps 1-6.

Programming a device using the Code Lists:

  1. Find codes for each device and brand below.
  2. Press and "HOLD" CODE SEARCH.
  3. Press and release the TV, VCR or Cable button you want to set up. If programming AUX for a device, press and release AUX first and then the device to be programmed (TV, VCR or Cable). When the selected device button flashes proceed to the next step.
  4. Enter the three digit code from the TV, VCR or Cable Box code lists.

  5. Release CODE SEARCH.
  6. With the device on, press another button, for example CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. If the device does not respond, repeat steps 1-5 using another code number from the lists.

I cannot briing in a picture. Upper left corner of picture says it is on channel 4...upper right corner "no programs availab le"How do I program TV to bring in a picture.; I am on Insight Cable.

Typically the cable box is the source of your channel programming. If you're getting the "no programs available" you need to find if that notice is from your TV or your cable box. Check the connections from your cable source to the cable box and from the cable box to your TV.
Make sure that your TV is set on the proper source selection. Most Projection TV's have several (ant, cable A, B, DVD etc) check your on-screen menu for which one and make sure the cable is connected to the proper input ports on the back of your TV.
If you disconnect the cable between the tv and cable box and still get the "no programs "...then it's your TV.. but if you lose that warning, then it's coming from the cable box... If after checking your connections, disconnect the power to your cable box and let it sit for 5 minutes and then reinsert the power to the box and see if you get a reset with signal...... If nothing after all this, contact your cable provider to check their signal to your house and also the cable box.... Hope you have quick success on this!

Cannot get the cable to show on this tv

If the TV is connected to a cable box using 1 solid cable (RF ANT) your needs to be on either channel 3 or 4.
If the TV is connected to a cable box using 2 or 3 RCA cables, your TV needs to be on AV 1, 2 or 3.
If the TV is connected directly to the cable, go to MENU set the TV to cable and program channels.

Good luck

Timed recording with cable (new)

If you're referring to programming your VCR for recording, that works just like it did before the cable box was installed, but with two major differences.

The first difference is that the VCR must always be programmed to record on the converter box output channel. Usually this is channel 3, but may also be channel 4. The cable box selects the channel from the cable system, but it's always outputting to your TV on the same channel. That channel is what the VCR needs to record from.

The second change to programmed recording is that you can't program your VCR to record programs on different channels. The reason is because, as mentioned above, the VCR is actually recording from the cable box which is always on the same output channel. Unless you are home to change the channel on the box, you're stuck. For example, if you want to record a show at 10PM on channel 8 and another at 11 on channel 26, those are the cable channel numbers. The box output is channel 3 (or 4) in both cases. The VCR can't switch the box for you. It's only going to record the program on the channel you selected before you left home. You also need to leave the cable box turned on, but the TV can be off. This is probably the thing most people find confusing about dealing with a cable box.

Now having said all that, some brands of cable box do include a timer feature of their own that allows you to program the box to switch channels. This feature is used in conjunction with timer recording on the VCR. You still always program the VCR to record on channel 3 (4), but now the box can be programmed as well to switch to the channel on the system you want to record. This allows you to get around the limitation described above. If your box offers this feature, it will be accessed through its setup menu using the remote control. Ask your cable company if this is available if it's not clear from the setup menus or instructions the installer left you with.

Cable box, digital service, channels not appearing

connect the RF lead from the wall to your cable box then out from that to your dvd then out from your dvd to your tv. now connect a scart lead from the cable box to AV 2 on the DVD then connect AV 1 on the DVD to your TV if you have a second scart on your tv connect that to the cable box. NOW on the DVD select AV2 now whatever is on the cable box will be recorded onto DVD/VCR. Put the DVD recorder into VCR mode and set it to auto tune all the Digital Video Broadcasts. You cannot physically tune the cable boxes own channels into the DVD via RF it has to be via a scart.

Program satelite or cable

you are not specific as to programming cable or satellite .if you have cable tv with a cable box there is no need to program tv channels.the tv should be left on channel 3.check the back of the cable box & tv it may also be connected thru rca/s-video or componant cables meaning the tv should be on a line in/source ,or video input. for a tv without a cable box
you can do the auto or manual programming. no need to be on channel 3. if you have satelllite tv you need the box to hook up to your tv.you cannot bypass this box unlike cable tv.also check the back of the box for the other possible connections
good luck
