It might be running in the background. Shut down and turn the machine back on (not a restart). If you get the same error, press ctrl+alt+delete and open the task manager. Look for it there and see if it is running in the background. That should fix it.
right click on the setup file select properties then the compatibility tab set the compatibility to windows xp sp2 and check the run as administrator box. The setup file will be somewhere on the disc and will be a .exe or .msi
you should erase it from the computer and reinstall if it doesnt work look in the back of the game box and there it says the expectations that the game needs and if you dont meet one of those expectations the game wont work
either keep putting the 2nd cd / dvd else. search both cds u'll find put the same exe file image ( a patch ) same as the file image on which u double click n run ( just copy that file into the location and it ll be done.
The file oregon5.dat is installed in the directory "program files(x86)". It can't be found because the computer is looking for it in "program files" WITHOUT "(x86)"! A different directory altogether. To make it run, cut and paste the sub-directory named "the learning company" into the directory "program files"
Hi,
Please check the compatibility of the game with Vista, and am not sure if this compatible at first place.
Secondly you can run programs or games in XP mode by right clicking on the exe file of the game, goto properties and select compatibility, and then select to run in XP mode.
Hope this helps
I found the answer to this problem. The problem is the install tries to write to files in the c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents directory. For some reason, that directory had lost the ownership. Try searching for "my documents access denied". For XP home, I had to boot in safe mode, then take ownership of the directory. Once I did this, the install could write to the directory and it installed!
