Check both power supply board and the backlight inverter board.

Tv turn on now,have a flashes of picture a few sec.than dies have sound left only?Yes.The 2 long board call the LCD inverter board are dead.These 2 long LCD inverters help the LCD screen to have a backlight to produced a picture.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy those 2 long LCD inverter boards for the replacement.

If it is not the afore mentioned remote or button issues, it is a defective IR amp sending the control IC signal from the logic amp to the OSD control. It is a Magnavox, not designed for the long haul.
