I have a 2wire 2701HG-B ATT high speed DSL router. Trying to get netflix via tv. Plugged ethernet into router then to Insignia Blue Ray DVD and my link is still down. Updated new software for DVD player still does not work.Does this have anything to do with the WEP / WPA encryption ?

First look in device manager and verify that the network adapter is enabled, if so you can try disabling it then shut down and reboot the PC.
Once booted, go back into device manager and enable the network adapter.
Run the software that came with your router and follow the steps provided.
Make sure your network cable from your router is NOT connected untill instructed to do so.
You will need to have the network cable from your modem connected to your PC for the router software to detect network connection.

Good luck, I hope this helps.
Have a nice day.

Ehternet light is out (amber), Power, wireless, DSL and internet light on (green). Desktop is wired to the 2wire. Wireless is working.

H there,

Try replacing the ethernet cable, If it does not work try reinstalling the drivers of your NIC card or LAN card. If it still does not work your NIC or LA card is busted.

Having problems with 2wire router that keeps dropping the internet. All light are on except ethernet, does this mean the router is no good. Recently replaced the power cord which helped for awhile.

how do you connect to your router? If there's no ethernet cable plug in on the router, the Ethernet light on your router is suppose to be off. Also try to move your router 2-3 ft. away from any electrical devices like wireless phone, printer etc. because of electromagnetic interference. It may help your wireless connection to be stable and faster.

What steps do I take to configure my 2wire 2701 hg-b to connect directly by ethernet cable to my Directv HD DVR and pick up the dsl signal being transmitted by my primary westell router? Both are wireless...

Connect the cable at both ends and do a red button (inside card door) reset of the DVR. To test the connection, do thus: Menu -> .....setup -> system setup -> network setup -> test connection. If it shows not connected then "reset defaults" and run "connect now"
As a basic security feature the ATT DSL 2Wire 2701HG-B router/gateway requires you to enter its pre-assigned WEP key to connect beyond the unit itself and then to the internet. Since the Direct TV DVR HD24D only does a basic connection without having a place to enter the 2701HG-B WEP key it never actually reaches the internet.
The 2Wire 2701HG-B has the ability for one attached unit to "pass through" its firewall and internal security settings using a so called "DMZplus" mode. I set the HR24D DVR to such a mode within the 2Wire unit and the DVR connected with the internet flawlessly.

Can i connect a 2wire 2701hg-b with roadrunner cable internet ? I had the 2wire dsl with at&t but recently disconnected the service

It is possible but it may not work as a router (2 wire 270). The 2wired router only has a phone port and ethernet/usb for computer connection. So if you will connect the roadrunner modem to the 2wired, you can connect it to the ethernet port of the 2wire, but the 2 wire will not function as a router any more. It will work just like a wireless bridge. This one setup that you can.
