Replace the pressure adjuster and everything will work. When you lose pressure and the adjuster is not adjusting to allow more or less then you need to replace it. It has a valve in there that is most likely broken and the valve is not opening and closing anymore.

I have gardener Denver's L55 with a low sump pressure fault

To troubleshoot the low sump pressure fault, check first the filter, suction line, and pump. Make sure the filter is clean, the suction line is clear, and the pump isn't seized. If these have all been checked and functioning properly, the next step is to check the differential pressure switch. This allows the pump to switch off when the sump pressure is too low or too high. If the differential pressure switch needs to be adjusted, look for the adjustment nut on the switch and for instructions on adjusting the switch in the owner's manual

Well Pressure Switch Adjustment Water Well Problems

1fa4b10.jpgIf you have a water well to supply your water needs, then you also have a well pump is some form and a well pressure switch that controls the water well pump and the pressures that it turns on and off at. Making the adjustments to this switch can be confusing, I will try to take away some of the confusion for you. There are many types of well pressure switches made. I will describe the adjustment of the most common type of switch and you can possibly translate from there if you have a different type of well pump pressure switch.

  1. Turn off the power to the well pump before making any adjustments. The blue flash from the arc when you short out the power is scary and leaves you seeing stars for a time.
  2. Drain all of the water pressure from the system and check that you have air pressure in your well pump pressure tank. If you intend to set the cut in of the pump at 30 PSI then make sure there is 28 PSI in the air part of the tank. Always 2 PSI less than your cut in pressure.
  3. Start the pump, run water, and then observe the pressures as the pump starts and stops. Remove power when adjusting to avoid the blue flash…you are working in close proximity to the electrical contacts of the switch.
  4. To raise the cut in pressure turn the taller center nut down to increase the spring pressure. This will start the pump at a higher pressure. To lower the start pressure turn the nut up or counter clockwise.
  5. To change the differential pressure, the difference between the start and stop pressures, you need to adjust the smaller nut that is on the side of the pressure switch. Turning this nut down will increase the differential pressure and likewise turning this nut counter clockwise or up will lower the differential pressure.

This process can take some time, but it will be worth it to have your pump and water system operating efficiently. You also can set the well water pressures to your liking.
This is a basic guide to help you fine tune your water well pump and your well pump pressure tank, along with your water pump pressure switch, so that they all work together to give you a good stable supply of well water.

Pump is turning on & off very quickly, is this due to low pressure? What is recommended bowl pressure? Pump is Onga 443.

this indicates that there is a failure of the non-return valve between the pump and the control unit. The residual pressure ( that what holds the switch in the off position) is draining away -probably back through the pump non-return valve or there is a hole in the pipes after the unit and the pump is constantly switching on to maintain pressure.
If you have a bowl and diaphragm that you can pump up with a air pump to get a set pressure to operate at it is possible that the set pressure on the diaphragm is too low.
As a point of interest there are better control units that do away with the bowl operation. they turn on quicker, self adjust to the number of taps on line, smaller and more reliable They also do not have the noticeable drop in pressure until the pump starts as they are almost instant reaction to pressure difference.

Adjust water pump pressure

pressure control valves are non adjustable
They operate to unload the pump when the trigger is released
What can vary pressure is the jet size at the end of the wand
The screw and nut on the valve is only to regulate the stop/start pressure as the trigger is pressed/ released
low pressure at the wand jet can be from low water supply to the pump or pump internal problems

My goulds pump J15 does not engage

These pumps can be wired to operate on either 115 or 230 volts. This shouldn't be an issue if it was previously working. If a new installation, make sure it isn't be connected for 230 volt operation and supplied with 115 volts - and of course; vice versa. Correct improper wiring before continuing. It is very possible that the motor has catastrophically failed due to incorrect voltage being supplied - hopefully this isn't the case.

Check and replace / reset any open fuses / tripped circuit breakers. and try again.

These pumps are often operated automatically via pressure switch. If the correct power is available to the pump it may be a problem with the pressure switch. There are many different types of pressure switches so it will be difficult to go beyond what I have told you already. You might want to see if you can locate a pressure adjustment screw and try varying it to see if it has been set too low to allow the pump to come on.

If no luck, tell me what the application for the pump is (point well pump, etc.) and what controls the pump (pressure switch, etc.). Provide the make and model of the control device and any visible settings. Do not remove any covers unless the power is first shut off.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Double shot button runs so slow you thinkit is going to stop

hi, maybe your grind is set too fine. If the grind is too fine, the water cant flow through. If your single shot flows ok, then id make the grind a bit coarser. Have you changed the blend. All blends are different. If you have not changed anything, then your pump pressure could be low. There is no adjustment for the pump. Replace pump if pressure is low.

How do you set the water well pressure switch so that it does not cycle from low pressure to high pressure? Can you not set it to where you have good pressure all the time when watering the yard?

There will usually be a difference in water pressure between the pump cycling on and off. The larger, spring loaded nut near the end of the case is the shut off adjustment. The small spring loaded nut next to it is for setting the differential between the stopping point and when the pump will restart. Getting these two points as close as possible will minimize the pressure differential while doing yard work but short cycling is not good for motors of any kind.

I just bought a used ingersoll rand ss3L3 and need to know how to adjust the pressure regulator switch. Also how to set the high and low limits.

if you want more pressure out your hose use the outlet pressure regulator. if you want more or less air put in the tank you can try to adjust the pressure switch. different models are adusted in different ways. there may be a screw between the points that make contact. adjust it up or down to see the direction you need to go. some of these switches won't let you adjust or id they do it won't be much.
