Remove cover from HP w2408h monitor
pop the roundish 'HP' cover of the back of the stand. Remove the 4 black screws and the stand comes away. The case is just a clamshell affair, the main piece is the rear cover, the LCD front plastic border locks into it. The screen with components mounted is sitting loose in the back cover once the front border is removed. The trick is to pry off the front border without damage. Hook the fingers under the border where it lays against the LCD screen, wiggle, pull, curse and do it again. The top and bottom borders come loose easier than the end borders. Once these are popped free, stand the unit on end between your knees and pry away the end borders. A wide putty knife slipped between the border and metal frame will save your fingers but don't damage the screen. When the front border is off, lay the unit face-up on a table, undo the screws for the control panel and power switch modules, flip it over and lift off the back panel. Everything is under a metal casing.. I had no voltage from the power supply, trying to find a Fairchild chip SG6902SZ on the small control module, P/N ILTR-003, else the Pwr Bd, P/N ILP-004..
