this works for Dell monitors with a similar problem: shut down, turn off monitor and pc, turn off at wall socket, and remove power plugs from wall socket. wait about 30 seconds. plug back in, turn on, and all should be well? I have used this 3 times on a Dell PC with a Viewsonic monitor.
sounds like a burnt or a cold solder around the TRANSFORMER section of the power supply , I suggets if your handy w/ tools to open the monitor and inspect the PC BOARD for any burnt or cold solder THAT not making the connection , hope it helps AJ
sounds like the operating mode is at a frequency or refresh rate that is outside the viewsonic operating specifications when in normal mode. possible solution: in safe mode access control panel, system, devices (hardware) and look for display. do a right click and uninstall. repeat right click and "scan for hardware changes". That might reset the monitor operating modes but it also gives you a chance to reinstall drivers. If this does not work, try other monitor crt/lcd to see what happens.
From what I have heard the isn't a great monitor and most say stay away. Sorry for the advice. There is one thing I would try, to increase the Hertz from 60 to at least 70...here is how: right click in an open area on your desktop...a box opens...->PROPERTIES->SETTINGS TAB->ADVANCE->MONITOR TAB-MONITOR SETTINGS there you'll see a drop down arrow->click on it a select 70HERTz ->APPLY-> OK...just for good measure, reboot...that may help..if not try the link below for more help Good luck... http://www.viewsonic.com/products/lcddisplays/optiquest/q7b/
Hey Brandon.
Besides those transistors, you may also fine the large capacitor
adjacent to the transformer gone too, Possibly the transformer may be
bad too ?
Also the 924s used at least two style boards.
Go to the ViewSonic site and read through their knowledge base on your monitor.
Then once you familiarize yourself with electronics safety by reading through a basics manual once or five times, and once you've got it, open up the monitor cold and/or hot, and find out where they spilled Coca-cola down the back or whatever might be suggested by the ViewSonic knowledge base. Lather, rinse, repeat; when the monitor acts right, then stop.
