I have an HP Pavilion ZD7360US notebook, and I want to replace the AC Adapter with an iGo PS0099 AC Power Adapter. Will this damage my computer or the generic adapter?
The adapter does not allow me to work with my computer, but will charge the battery when the computer is off.Thank you,

For this kind of issue, please follow up the following steps to check:
1.confirm the battery and ac adapter connect the laptop normally.Maybe the bad connect lead to this problem. If there are no lights when you turn on laptop, one of possible reason is that your adapter is malfunction.
2.the second possible cause is laptop dc jack failure. If the dc jack is broken or loose, you are required to replace it or repair it.
3.Another possible reason is that there is something wrong with laptop motherboard. For this situation, it includs two kinds of possibility,a failure in an electronic circuit and BGA malfunction.

If you verify your laptop adapter is dead and you plan to order a new one, I recommend one for you on the basis of your laptop model:
1. Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery from the notebook .
2. Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds. 3. replace the battery and connect the ac adapter
4. turn On the notebook and check
if the pc is not getting power without the ac adapter then most likely the battery is dead if it does not take a charge via the ac adapter then then the battery is no good or the ac adapter is busted
Remove the battery and plug the ac adaptor in check wethere the light on the port where you connect the ac adaptor glows or not, if no then check the wethere the ac adaptor is getting warm or not after you plug it in for few minutes if not then ac adaptor has to be replaced. If the light on the port is glowing then it is likely that the power supply of the notebook has gone bad as it is not able to switch to ac adaptor or the port where you connect the ac adaptor to the notebook has a short circut when the acadaptor pin is connected , better try with a different ac adaptor to be sure wethere the issue is with ac adaptor or the notebook. My best wishes
