Turntable and Fan won't stop running when door is open.

Cooked a potato too long. No fire sparks or anything. Took out potato and the turntable and fan continue to run whenever we open the door. Stops when the door is closed. Still doing it after 14 hours.

Oven heats, but light, fan and turntable do not come on.

Hi Ted

many microwaves have safety mechanisms to reverse, or stop the turntable if it senses resistance to the turning. This is done both because
  1. the turntable is usually driven by a small motor with a gear reduction transmission to get more torque on the glass platter and your food, and if something resists the turning, it can damage the gear train or belt if it keeps running.
  2. if you have something with liquid in it and it hits a wall, it could tip over, possibly spilling scalding liquid all over and maybe surprising the person who opens the door.
In some cases, it'll just stop and then try again the next time you run the microwave. The banging on the case sometimes turning things back on suggests that either something in the turntable mechanism is awry, or that there is a common hot wire, ground loop, or possibly fuse for the light/fan/turntable.

the manual for the oven doesn't really say anything about this.

You can see generic intructions on looking for an internal fuse here
Panasonic Microwave NN CT552W has no power plug fuse ok Has it got thermal... . Please, in particular, make sure you unplug the oven before opening anything. This is one of those devices where defeating the interlocks and having it turn on can seriously hurt you.

With regard to the turntable, in particular, it's really easy over time for exploded spaghetti sauce, spilled cocoa, and overmelted butter to have run down into the indentation in the middle of the bottom of the oven cavity. Remove the platter. Is it clean in there? Does it look like the 'this person never flosses' picture for mechanical rotors? If so, start with some kitchen cleaner and a washcloth damp (not soaked) with hot water. Let the cloth steam /warm the area a bit, wipe it down. repeat if necessary. If there's a lot of cruft built up there, that could be keeping you on the edge of safety shut-down.

Good Luck!

My GE Profile Countertop Convection/Microwave Oven PEB1590DMBB Has stopped working.

It sounds like you may have a shorted cook relay on the control circuit board which can be repaired simply and inexpensively.

A YouTube video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes, is here.

The microwave won't stop.

You probably have a bad door switch or door switch mount. See this file.

Turntable and cooking power not working, everything else does.

You have a shorting membrane keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running unattended.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please include your full model number from the tag in or on the unit) for a free estimate and free tips & do-it-yourself advice.

I PUT A POTATO IN FOR 6 MIN. AND AFTER ABOUT 2 MIN. IT SHUTS DOWN AND A MIN OR SO LATER IT STARTS UP AGAIN ,BUT THE TIME STILL COUNTS DOWN AND THE TURNTABLE IS STILL TURNING, AND YESTERDAY I HAD TO UNPLUG...

it sounds like it is overheating. but if only stops for a minute or so dont know if that would be enough time to cool off. When you start it up can you hear the fan running? does it keep running when it shuts down? if it's not running then thats the problem If the fan is running and shuts down when it shuts down then try shaking the door when you start it up the next time or you can try it the first time just to eliminate it being a faulty interlock switch. let me know about what you find about these two ideas.

Turntable won't stop

Sounds like a door switch problem or stuck relay contacts on the control PCB. Do the light and fan run too or just the T/T??

Dacor dcm24s.light, fan, and control panel work but turntable and heat do not

Most likely the bottom door switch. Dacor units are built by Sharp and that switch is a very common problem. You'd either need to check the switch with an ohm meter or remove the cover of the switch to see if it's burned inside.

I have a Whirlpool AMW545 built in microwave oven. The turntable continuosly runs with the door shut when the microwave is not in use. The turntable will stop rotating if the door is opened.

the controller for the turntable is shorted out or welded its contact if its a relay. the door has safety switches that turns off the electrical connection to the turntable and magnetron once you open the door. you can trace the switch that runs the turntable. start from the power supply, goes to the door switch then to the controller before it goes to the turntable motor. i'm sure it has an electrical diagram at the inner wall of the cover.
i hope i was able to help.

Turntable goes around when the door is open and the microwave is off.

Do not run the microwave with the door open. You will be cooked. Sooner or later, if there are enough microwave ovens, (and there are), everything that can go wrong with them will, eventually. There are several interlocking safety systems built into every microwave so that they won't work with the door open. Yours may have failed. I've never come across one, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.
It may only have a fault making the fan and turntable operate, which can sound like it's working with the door open. Either way, get it checked or get a new one.
This assumes that the microwave isn't actually supposed to do what it is doing under normal conditions or current programming. Refer to manual/instructions if unsure.:::Spiceweasel.au
