That small gizmo is called CROWN or WINDING CROWN. It is not possible to obtain it online, so, you have to shop around for it. Find your nearest watchmakers shop and ask for replacement. You may need stem as well.

SOURCE: We just purchased a used '99 Starcraft Field &

I had exact same problem on my 93 popup. I finally figured it out. First, the poles with the plastic rings slide into the poles with the metal rings. These are the vertical support poles. Next, the poles w/ plastic nipples slide into the other poles with rubber ends. When put together the poles with the nipples should be spring loaded. These spring loaded poles rest against the top of the camper and the nipples are inserted into the 3 holes of the pole that go across the front of the awning giving you rafter support. The tension from the spring should keep the pole in place against the side of the camper. The first 3 poles with the plastic rings go from the ground to the front awning pole where the nipples can slide through the plastic ring and then into the awning pole. The vertical poles can be adjusted for height by sliding them up or down and then twisting them like a screw to tighten them up and keep them in place. 2 of my 3 vertical poles will not lock when I twist them so I have to get tricky with them. The metal rings, which should now be at the ground, are there so that you can stake it down under windy conditions. I hope this wasn't too confusing but I beleive it will help you. Good luck!!!

SOURCE: square tent with 2 types gazebo poles, varenda, 2 side windows

the 2 longest of the poles go in an x over the center of the tent and the 2 shorter ones go arch to the sides. http://www.wenzelco.com/details.aspx?NavID=412
shows a picture very similar to your tent. If you go to image 2 it shows it with out the fly. now if you got 2 sets of 4 poles, 2 long and 2 short, and one set is all aluminum, then I would go with the aluminum set. It is less likely to collapse in high winds.

SOURCE: I have a Thermos

I have one of these tents, here is how you operate it. When you pull down to set the tent, pull down on the larger fatter end. When releasing, pull down on the skinny side. I use the canvas bag to pull it down. That makes it easier on the hand. Or use work gloves.
Good luck

Needing to know how to set tent up it has metal poles I think it's a 6 or 10 man tent could be a 8 man not sure

They seem to make a few models. There are videos and text articles, but the best thing is to lay out the tent base, make up the poles and work it out. Peg the 4 corners of the tent, then it depends on the type of tent, but ridge pole in next, then the apex poles at the end, and then lift up on the legs. The peg in all the guy ropes and tighten.

Pitching instructions for a great outdoors executive 320 tent and sunroom

This is a duplicate of a previously asked question on FIXYA from 2012, where an exact set of instructions could not be found, but two proposed answers were given.

For a similar but not the same tent, the scanned document still exists online:

Jim,

these are the instructions I devised as I had no instructions either...

Great Outdoors Executive 320 tent
Two rooms plus a fully enclosable veranda.
(4.9m long x 4.3m wide x 2.4m high)
Main Tent Assembly :
Lay the tent out on the ground (making allowance for the slope of the ground, prevailing wind, general access, etc).
Peg down the main corners and centres of each wall, keeping the tent square and evenly tensioned. Peg down remaining loops.
Assemble two sets of side support poles. These have been numbered (from the front, looking towards the tent (ie, facing the veranda)) :
Left-hand side : L1, L2, L3, L4 & L5 (corresponding to poles 1, 24, 3, 4 & 1).
Add front & rear supports LF1 & LF2 and LB1 & LB2 (ie, 2 sets of poles 5 & 9).
Right-hand side : R1, R2, R3, R4 & R5 (corresponding to poles 1, 24, 3, 4 & 1).
Add front & rear supports RF1 & RF2 and RB1 & RB2 (ie, 2 sets of poles 5 & 9).
Place poles in the loops along the sides ensuring that the 4 brown loops (at each end of the sides) are looped behind the projecting studs (this ensures the sides don't slide into the centres.
Lift & tension one side, then the other.
Assemble the centre poles (numbered C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6 & C7 (corresponding to poles 12, 13, 8A, 24, 3, 4 & 8)).
Slide the centre poles through the centre of the tent. Use poles 14A & 15 to hold up the rear of the tent, poles 14A & A in the centre, & two further sets of 14A & 15, one set at the front of the tent & one set for the veranda. Tension by expanding the poles.
Assemble poles A, BE, C2, BE & A through the centre of the tent, clip onto ridge poles & tension. (Note : poles A should be inserted from the outside, through the elasticised holes before being inserted into poles BE).
Attach a guy rope to the rear of the tent (top of centre pole 15) & tension.
Veranda Assembly :
Assemble 4 sets of poles (10 & 30) & place in corners & centres of the veranda. Attach guy ropes & tension. Attach veranda walls (using Velcro strips).
Porch Assembly :
Select which side is to be an entrance. Unzip the window covering & use two poles (10 & 30) to lift it. Tension with 2 guy ropes on each pole.

hope the above helps.

Have huge Kelty ridgeway tent, maybe 20 yrs old. Heavy metal poles labeled red, green, blue. Can’t find set up instructions. Help!

I believe I have the same Ridgeway tent - over 20 years old. Red-, Blue- and Green-labeled poles. Best setup will require at least 2 persons. Here is a quick guide to setup:

1. First, stake the tent floor down making sure it is taut.

2. Center poles are labeled with Blue dots. There are 3 separate poles that fit through the center channel - 1 straight pole with 'male' connectors on each end (this will be in the middle), and 2 poles with curved 'female' ends. The curved ends need to slip through the center loops (there's a 'hook' to hold the loop). The center upright poles consist of a bottom pole (which should have a cap on one end and an adjustable ring on the other) and a 2-piece snap pole (with grooves on one end). Make sure to slip the pole with the grooves through the adjust ring (this will allow adjusting the height of the center of the tent). There are also 2 strings at the center of the tent about a foot above the ground. Tie these strings around the upright center pole to ensure that the center upright pole doesn't separate too far from the tent.

3. Poles with Red dots are for the ends of the tent. There is a curved 2-piece snap pole that slips through the end channel. Then, you have a 3-piece straight snap pole that attaches to each side of the curved pole. The bottom end of the straight pole should be placed about a 1.5 feet from the bottom of the center pole (at about a 45-degree angle). The door ends are essentially 'leaning' outward from the center.

4. Poles with Green dots are for the extended door cover on the large door side. These are 2 snap poles with ends that fit through the grommet holes of the cover.

Photos of erected tent are attached.

We don't use our tent very often, but my son just took it camping and it was a breeze to set up. If you still have the plastic stakes, I would recommend replacing those with metal stakes, as the plastic stakes break easily. Also, you may need to find a rain fly that fits the tent.

How do I assembly the tent

Step 1 Remove the tent, poles, stakes and tent rope of the dome tent from the Northwest Territory sack. Locate a large flat area and remove any sticks and rocks from the ground. Step 2 Lay the tent fabric on the ground with the bathtub style floor face down. Pull the corners of the fabric tight and rotate the tent so the door is facing in the direction you want. Use a hammer to stake the corners in the ground. Step 3 Assemble the two long poles to their full length. The pole segments are connected by chords and will easily snap into place. Slide one pole through the diagonal sleeve on the top of the tent. Slide the other pole through the other diagonal sleeve to form an "X" with the poles. Step 4 Place the end of each pole in the corresponding grommet. The poles will bend and the shelter will be erected. Step 5 Assemble the two small poles. Slide one pole in the doorway sleeve and the other in the back window sleeve. The poles will bend slightly to create a rain peak on the door and window. Step 6 Pull the doormat tight and pound stakes through the loops on each corner. Pull the tent rope tight on the back of the tent and pound a stake through the rope loop to anchor the tent to the ground.

How to set up a spalding uv Tex 5 tent

First set the 3 eleven piece poles with 2 crossed across the tent and one across the front portion. Feed them thru the channels and buckles. Then put the pin hooks into the bottom of the poles. You will need to arc the poles to get the pins into the end of the pole. Next put the poles that are smaller into the channels and buckles for the two vestibules. Again put the pin hooks into the same pole ends as the back crossed one.
Stake the tent to the ground by driving the stakes thru the pin rings starting at the 6 corners of the tent. Pull front of vestibule taut and secure in place by driving stakes thru webbing loops at base.
Install the rainfly by draping it over the top of the tent. Hook each of the 8 S hooks onto the provided loops. Secure the rainfly to the poles by wrapping the velcro straps around the poles underneath the rainfly.
These instructions should be in the pocket on the wall in the main section of the tent in the pocket with red writing.
