Polaroid 2611 - TLXB 26" HD Widescreen LCD TelevisionStuck in standby mode

TV has worked well until now. When unhooking Laptop from VGA port, got message "no VGA signal, will power down". I didn't pay it much attention as I presumed once laptop was disconnected, I would restart TV and change input. Since then, however, I have not been able to get TV out of standby mode (red light is on, will not turn to blue).

    Sure did; but no joy. I just know that it's gotta be something simple and obvious... other ideas

    I repeated the recommended process 3 times. Still no joy. VGA pins are not touching. I have tried turning on TV both with remote and control buttons on the side. I know the remote is good as it works with the second TV of same type.

    I do appreciate your ideas and coaching...

Have you done a hard reboot??

  • Anonymous Apr 09, 2008

    this is what I would do, I would disconnect everything reboot the tv then one by one start to connect each component and see what happens, if nothing still then get a flash light and see if any of the pins from the vga input are touch at all. that could cause a issue.

    let me know

I plugged in a computer and changed the input to VGA and the TV went blank

It sounds like your tv is in sleep mode.

What are the settings for the computer? Make sure it is set for the vga output. If it is a laptop, this is usually done with a function (FN) key. On your settings screen you can set the resolution and which monitor you are using.

I have a Polaroid 26"

Sounds like your fiddling may have shorted out the main board of the TV.

Not to say that this wouldn't have happened eventually, there's a good possibility it was defective from the start.

If you have warranty, try to go through that, you should be covered. Otherwise, for a 26 inch, most likely not worth repairing, good luck!

Polaroid 26inch lcd tvred standby light on but power wont turn on. I've unplugged the tv, changed the batteries in the remote. The tv stays with the red standby light only.

You need to open it up and checking the voltages in the power supply sections, you should have 5v (for logic circuits), 12v for sound, 24v for backlight inverter circuits. Look for bad caps with bulging tops in power supply also.
