  • makarlan Apr 10, 2008

That was the last, of many, I tried. Still getting an error 99.
I guess it's a trip to the Camera Store or back to Canon.
    Appreciate everyone's help.

My cannon rebel eos DS6041 displays error 99 when

'Error 99' indicates some problem with the AF contacts. This is a common error in Canon lenses. It could indicate a very simple problem like dirty contacts or a much serious one like the breakage of USM cable.
As a first step, you can try cleaning the lens and body contacts (the metal contacts between the lens and body) using a pencil eraser. Be careful to hold the body facing down so that no dust falls inside. After cleaning both the lens and the body contacts, re-attach the lens and try shooting. If the AF does not work still, you need to take the lens to an authorized service center.

Im getting an Error 99 on my EOS-300D Digital Camera when I turn off my YN 465 Speedlite flash gun (still mounted) and then I start shooting manually without the flash. Help please, its a bit annoying, but...

To fix this err99 issue, do the following
1. Turn off the camera. 2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card. 3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes. 4. Insert a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera.
If it appears again, then proceed to next steps 1. Turn off the camera. 2. Insert the CF card. 3. Turn on the camera. 4. Format the CF card in the camera.
If you still get the error you should send your product to canon for servicing.

I can help you fix the BUSY Error or Error 99 of your Canon EOS 1000D.

Installation of this Canon EOS 1000D firmware version 1.06 update will solve these problems:
  1. Some cameras may exhibit a phenomenon in which the LCD monitor does not display, the shutter does not release, and the BUSY indication remains lit in the viewfinder.
  2. The message, "Err 99 Shooting is not possible. Turn the power switch to<OFF> and <ON> again or re-install the battery", appears on the camera's LCD monitor, and after the above operation is carried out,the LCD monitor displays in a language that is different from the actual language setting.
See the firmware instructions and download the firmware upgrade by following these Fixya Tips :

  1. Follow this link to download a pdf version of the firmware installation instruction guide.
  2. Follow this link to download the Windows Version of the Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D firmware version 1.06 update.
  3. Follow this link to download the MAC version of the Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D firmware version 1.06 update.
  4. Follow this link to download the Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D Instruction Manual.

I hope that helps.

EOS 300D won't work with hot shoe anymore - I get an error 99.

Error 99 is the generic error message for something serious has gone wrong. Probably only recourse is a general service at £175 or thereabouts, but for that price of course you could buy another one from an auction site of your choice and still have change!

Error 99 in canon 400D

You will get that error when using some lenses other than Canon. A lot of the older Sigma lenses have that issue. Do you get this error when using newer Canon EOS lenses?

An error?

What's it? How?
Was it the code "ERR 99"?

Error 99 only when flash pops up

I know what you two are talking about. I ordered a Canon EOS 300d from a site called "Keh" and I had never used one before... so I get it in the mail on time. The camera works fine for a few minutes then I get an "error 99" and can't do jack with the camera. I researched online and even called keh ... I read and heard that it has to do with the lens... so I sen't the camera back and got my money.
