i have cyber acoustics headset and i cant hear anything but my Mic works, my sound is all fine, when i plug my headset out i can hear but when its plugged in, i cant hear anything.
If your X3's microphone is working, you should be able to hear yourself in the headset when you talk into it. Plug the chat-controller cable in both the headset and the controller, then talk into the X31 mic. Can you hear yourself in the headset? If yes, then the microphone is OK but you probably need a new chat-controller cable. If not, then the microphone may be broken and you should contact Turtle Beach tech support at [email protected].
On the MacBook there is no microphone port, if you look closely, it is not a microphone plug, it is a line in plug. Line in cannot record sounds from a microphone without amplification. What I would recommend doing is purchasing this adapter: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812186035&cm_re=usb_audio-_-12-186-035-_-Product- With this adapter, you plug your headset and mic into it and then it plugs into the USB port on your MacBook. Then you can just unplug it from the USB port when you are done.
Usually on default the microphone is not enabled in windows, so you have to do it manually. This is the steps you have to follow.
Control panel
Sound
Recording(or microphone heading, it may differ)
Enable microphone
Now it should work if it was not enabled in the first place.
If this does not work try plugging in the combo in the back panel of your case. or visa versa.

You should take your headset to another computer/location and see if your problem still exists. That way you can eliminate problems with either your computer hardware or your outgoing internet connection (jitter). I don't think that the CD will be necessary, since it is a USB device, which contains it's own little sound card and doesn't need any drivers. If the problem persists and it turns out to be a problem with the headset, I would definitely return/exchange it.
what make, model, motherboard, and sound card are you using on your computer. I understand your desire to know why the system would not be working otherwise.. What kind of microphone other then the headset are you using and do you have every reason to believe said microphone is a good mic?
My microphone has always worked on vista for, I use it everyday on skype, but today it will not work, I can hear the caller but they cannot hear me. I thought my headset was broken and i bought a new one. but its still doing the same thing with the new headset. It says the microphone settings are enabled and working, but when i do the mic test, it says that it cannot hear me. what can i do?? help!
Go to start then control pannel then sounds and audio devices. Then in in the volume tab select advanced in the device volume section. When the mixer comes up go to options then properties select the recording option a recording mixer will come up make sure to check the microphone box. Raise the level in the ixer and you should be golden. If you want to hear the mic select playback mixer and raise the mic level. Hope this helps. : ]
It may be that this person is "messing around" with you, or their speakers are rigged, from my experince, it sounds like your headset is perfectly fine, or your headset microphone switch was toggled on "Off" Msn is just a instant messaging chat, shouldn't have anything to do with your headset.
