For some reason just recently water in leaking down the center of an opening in the back of the refigerator. It seems to get worse when the ice maker is working or when you are dispensing water

First, ensure that you have water connected to the intake tube at the back. The water filter needs to be checked also. It is in the cooling section(not the freezer), at the top. If it looks old or water does not flow, it will need replacing. Depending on the model, there is a switch inside the freeze section behind the ice tray. Turn that on, and ice should be available after a few hours. Some models don't have a switch, but a wire hanger, that needs to be in the down position for the ice maker to work.

Make sure your manual doesn't say something about inline filters, or a float that might be sticking in off position. Depending on how ice is made sometimes they have a float to where water rises so hight then gets shut off to freeze and form the ice.
SOURCE: drain pan leaking?
there is a drip pan located underneath you ref but most likely your prob is a plugged drain line coming from the freezer. when you ref goes into automatic def the water doesnt run out into the drip pan but instead onto your floor..
you can clean the drain line by removing the rear cover in the freezer compartment and using hot water to thaw the drain below the evap coil.

I would suggest not buying a KitchenAid. I have the same problem with my ice maker. Have had nothing but problems with every KitchenAid product that I have ever owned. I will never purchase another KitchenAid product.
All of there appliances are second rate. That is "The KitchenAid Difference"

There is usually a drain in the freezer to drain the defroster element and excess icemaker water that is probably clogged. You'll need to clear that clogged/frozen drain. Unplug the refrigerator, find the drain and use a steamer or hair dryer to unfreeze the clogged drain and then clean and dry everything. You probably need to remove some of the inside panels in the freezer to find the drain. When working properly excess water usually drains to a pan under the refrigerator to evaporate. Good time to clean underneath the refrigerator with a brush and vacuum.
