SOURCE: dark picture

I think you have a regulation problem and all the voltage supplies are lower than what they should be,the fact that the picture gets distorted is one thing it lead me to believe that is the problem. This can be caused by a loose conection in the power supply ,I would suggest not to use it until it gets repaired or it might become worst and more expensive.Be careful if you remove the back and try to repair it yourself.

SOURCE: Adjusting to the proper color

Tint would be the control that will control the color balance, but this sounds like it may be deeper then that. Turn your color all the way down so that you have a black and whit picture. If the picture is still yellow then you have a problem with the blue picture tube.

see if there is a "default" option, if not set everything back to the middle, if the colors are still off you sure its not the convergence?
most big screens allow you to change "color temperature" it's like a default adjustment for 3 different brightness levels.... ie...COOL, WARM picture will show obvious changes in brightness

Colorimetre HCFR software
AVC HD 709 calibration disk
Spyder2 colorimeter (I know most prefer the Eye-One meters, but the Spyder2 was available from my job at no cost)

Here are the settings:

PS3 Blu-Ray player

Output Format (HDMI): Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr (important!!! NOT RGB output)
BD 1080p 24hz Output (HDMI): On (this TV can reproduce video at 48hz for accurate 2:2 pulldown)
Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super White (HDMI): On (not sure if this matters)

Take time to get used to the settings, you may think the screen looks dull at first. The truth is most people have way too much contrast on their TVs.
These settings will also work for Cable or Dish hookups, in which case you may change the Noise Reduction option to Medium to reduce signal noise.
