Help with the Olympus FE-280 8.0 megapixel, please!!

My camera, Olympus FE-280 8.0 megapixel, will turn on, but when I turn it on, it goes, "Weeahhh...Weeahhh." Like a whirring sound happens, then it closes and opens again until it finally stops and a picture shows up on the screen of where I'm pointing to, but it's all blurry. I can take pics and vids with it, but they all come out blurry. I tried putting in different batteries, but the same thing happened. I took out the memory card a few times, but it only reduced the pics i could take and the minutes of video I could shoot. Help please??

This is a tipically problem, of a pressure on the lens, if the lens go out. or if the camera are dopped. to resolve this problem alone you must have specifically knowledge.
the cost of the reparation is high. so if you want prove withe the exact model number, search on the ebay international seller the komlet lens with ccd for you camera. any american seller if you buy the lens, can give a guide to change the lens block. but this is not a symply job. if you make one error you loose the camera and the lens. the price of your lens block can go from 25 to 35 euro, if you can change it alone you have resolved with this money. ok.?? sorry for my bad english if you want help can you write me and i will help you

Card cover open fe 280

Hi,

You can fix it with a small piece of tape inside the unit where the memory card goes. Just look inside for a sensor or a small button, and try pressing it down yourself. If that works, then maybe a slip of tape over that spot would fool the camera into thinking the cover is closed. If this is not fixing your problem take your camera to Olympus as this problem involves some built in mechanism troubleshooting.

Thank you !!

Lens stuck open will not retreat battery fully charged when it is turned on lens moves in and out but will not fully close

The problem you are describing is a problem with something in the lens assembly of the camera. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $66.85 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

I have recently had the same problem. I sent my camera back to Olympus who very efficiently repaired it FOC and sent it back with an extended warranty. I gather this is a very common problem with this camera.
