Open Question

I have a JVC (stereo, radio, cassette, recorder) and it's buzzing

I have a JVC RC-770C (stereo, radio, cassette, recorder) And it works perfectly until I try and play my cassette tapes. when I play, rewind or fast forward the tapes it gives me a strong buzzing/humming/static noise. I can hear the tapes (they're all in great condition) if i listen carefully but the static noise is too distracting. how do I fix this?

SOURCE: Tape is stuck in VCR- Fast rewind and forward

It may need to be cleaned. Mechanical problems are one of the big problems with VCRs they use alot of mechanical moving parts and play for so long they fail. Plastic parts dont help much either. The pinch roller takes up the slack and is usualy the part that fails first because it constantly runs along the tape and builds a coating on the rubber so it doesnt grip the tape and pull it back into the cassette. If its not pulling the tape back in then it hangs up inside and you cant get the tape out. Fastforward uses the reels to pull the tape not so much the roller. Try and stop 2 times then fast forward then eject the tape. Try and eject the tape while its fastforwarding so it doesnt do anything else. Sometimes machines will unload after its been in fastforwad a while then it will eject. You will hear a change in the sound when it unloads, you can hear the mechanical arms move the tape in and out of the cassette. Thats when you eject it. You cant really clean it till you get the tape out. YOu can clean the pinch roller with fingernail polish or paint remover. It is a wheel inside it looks like a black tire. It pinches the tape against the capstan arm this is why it developes a film or a shine on the rubber making it slip.

SOURCE: Tape get stuck when I playback after fast forward the tape

Yes, that is a possibility. Also check the mechanism which activates the brakes- is something sticking or broken? A dried or sticky grease can cause the brake mech. to hang up. A broken or cracked lever or slide piece could be your problem too. Late VCRs of the last 10+ years are rather breakable, unlike the older ones which were often built like tanks, comparatively speaking.

SOURCE: cassette player will not work

common fault on the JVC tape decks is the belt stretch and then it does a clicking sound its trying to pick up the audio heads. changing the belt is quite hard if you have`nt done it before.

My Al 300 jvc no sound coming from turntable to speaker cassette radio working OK

Unplug the red and white leads. With the amp turned on to full volume, touch the sockets the leads plug into with your finger. If you hear a big buzz. The amp is OK. If you don't the cartridge pre-amp inside your amp has failed. It will not effect any other parts of the system, cassette, radio, etc.

If you do hear a buzz. Then the cartridge is faulty.

I have a JVC RC-ST1, I'm trying to record from CD

check to make sure the tab on the cassette is not on, as if it is, it will prevent the record button from being pushed down , thus avoiding overwriting the cassette.
If thats not the case then the record mechanism is damaged inside the cassette caddy.
