My dvd player won't open. There's a disc inside and it plays, but when I press Stop and then Open button, the screen would read Open, but a few seconds later, it would read Load, and the disc inside would load again and it would take me to the main menu. I've tried to open it multiple times, btu with this same result. How can I open the dvd player?

If you hit "Disc Menu" on the remote just as the fireworks start, you won't have to go through the entire Previews section, and then the disc seems to work fine...

I have an LG BD390.
You probably don't have to update, despite that nag screen. My player is up to date and I see it, too.
If you want to update you'll need an internet connection. Assuming your player is connected with an ethernet cable or through wireless, go to the Home screen (that's what it's called on mine).
You should have a Settings icon or something to that effect. Your menu may be different but you should have options that are nearly identical. I can only write down what I see on my model:
Settings-->Network-->Update
From there you can check for updates and download them if you wish. On mine you cannot check for updates if there is a disk in the player.
Hope this helps.
