Tv wont turn on

If the model number listed here is correct check the fuse and then look under the high voltage transformer for bad solder connections which is the most common issue in the model listed here.

No picture and makes a squeaky noise when turned on

A Philips with the high pitched whine or squeaky sound has a short usually on the deflection board (the middle board) which can be anything from a cap to the high voltage transformer.

It indicates the set has a short and is in shutdown.

It has an electric arc in the back an makes a cracking noise

the high voltage runs the picture tubes. you have a bad high voltage transformer (large signal board) or something wrong with the anode wires (big red ones) or could be a bad tube. this has 30,000 volts so be careful or call a Pro.

Spark

The black unit is the high voltage transformer and splitter and it has possibly cracked causing high voltage to leak out. Unless you have a heavy duty soldering iron and good with multiple solder connections, it may be best to have a technician check it out for you. I would guess it would cost in the $200-$300 range. Thanks for using fixya.

Where to get repair information on Philips 50" TV

Is the red light on, on the front of the set? If so there are a few things that can cause this, the most common is the fly back transformer/trippler. This is somewhat of an easy fix if you know how to solder and use a meter. If a repair man comes to do it you will be looking at somewhere between $400-$500. Let me know if I can help you more?

Sound but no picture

Start by adjusting the high voltage to the crts. if that brings your picture back then replay the flyback transformer. That's more than likely what it is.
