Question about Mustang Rzt 50" Zero Turn Riding Lawn Mower
You can check the clutch by taking a wire from the ground and a wire from the positive side of the battery and energizing the clutch directly with the belt off to see if thats it. It could simply be a wire loose in the connection on the clutch....their soldered on.

I had an issue with my Cub Cadet RZT54 with the blades disengaging and I was unable to get the PTO to work. What I found in my case was that there's a switch at the base of each steering handle that disengages the blades/deck when you put the levers in reverse. It appears that one of my switches got stuck in, making the mower think that it was still in reverse. I was able to spray the push button switches with some WD40 and it's been okay since then. I hope this helps.

Does the PTO engage at all? All of these models are equipped with a seat safety switch that has to have a open circuit to run. The PTO Clutches do go bad...first check the wiring from the clutch to make sure they are connected and not broken....you maybe looking at a new clutch that can be upwards of $400.00. www.nnyparts.com
No the PTO does not engage at all. I tried a new battery and that had no effect. The seat switch does stop the engine if it is not put in park so I don't think that is the issue. I have checked the wiring that I can get to without disasembling anything and I could find no loose plugs or cracked/broken wires. It is either the PTO switch or the clutch. I am not looking forward to a $250.00 to $400.00 repair bill, on the other hand it has been 5 years of trouble free no expense other than oil and filter changes mowing. So I am probably due for some up keep.
