Card error I've just gotten back from a trip. When I turned my camera on, a Card Setup screen appears and my two choices are Power Off or Format. When I pull out the memory card and put into the memory card reader in my computer, it says that the disk must be formatted before it can be used. Have I really lost all 200+ pics from my trip or is there anything I can do to save them? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I can't get to the photos on the card, that's the problem.

Yeah, it says that the card needs to be formatted before it can be used.

Hi,

Use a card reader connected to a PC to backup your photos and then reformat the memory card.

My camera says the memory card is locked and memory card error appears when I turn on the camera. I've read that I have to format the card, but won't the photos be destroyed? How can I get my pictures

There is a tab on the memory card so you will you need to remove it from the camera and change the position of this tab to "unlock" it. DO NOT format the card until you've BACKED UP your files from it (typically to a PC or USB drive (stick or external hard drive).

Trying to download photos from computer card reader. An error occured. Put card back in camera, switch on power and camera goes to card setup screen, alaem sounds and the choices are power off or format....

It sounds like you already know better than to reformat the card whether on the camera on on the computer, for you will for sure loose all the pictures. A couple of steps you can try;
- try another card
- try using the cable that came with the camera to connect the camera to the computer, this will at least enable you to get those pictures saved before loosing them
- try a different card reader, while they do seem fairly simple I've encountered some work for some cards better than others. it can be a cheap one, just another one.
- make sure your battery is fully charged and that the camera was stored in a dry place (humidity has been known to start wreaking havoc in the internal workings of a digital camera, even the humidity from a warm closet/garage)
- if all else fails, contact Teleplan Camera Repair they will be able to assist and repair.

Why My kodak dc280 can not read the memory card?

Try formatting your camera memory card If you own camera memory cards that have been used in other digital cameras, the card may not be properly formatted for use in your camera, or that data on the card may become corrupted. When these issues arise, your camera indicates that the camera memory card needs to be formatted.
When you format a camera memory card, all of the information on the card is erased. This includes any borders supplied on the card.

When I turn on the camera,it says 'card setup' with choice power off and fotmat

This is a problem with the card you are using. If you use a different card the camera should work properly. Unfortunately I have not figured out a way yet to save the pictures on the card that is erroring.

Format Error in Sony Cybershot

it could be a faulty memory card, but a more likely cause is that this stick isn't formatted yet. you can format it usually by bringing up the camera menu, then going to tools and format. you can also format it by using windows and a cardreader or your camera.

Faulty memory card - card error.

hi, May be, it is possible, but take a chance, try with another memory card, i hope you will get it from your friends. check the camera with that, if camera works properly means problem in your memory card.If camera not works means, there is something wrong in card accessing circuit of camera. If so go to olympus shop. also try to format your memory card with pc and then check the camera with that. good luck
