I have an Epson Stylus Photo R1800 Printer. The on/off switch fell apart. I can still get it to work by using a screwdriver inserted from the front to trip the switch. Are the switches available, and how do I get the old one out?

You need 2 things: 1.the service pages from the service manual-I bought mine and suggest you do to. I'm not sure how it works with me offering to sell you the manual on this site, but I'm appplying to be a paid epert, so maybe ther is a way I can sell you all or partof the manual that you need. 2. the parts- consumers can get parts lists and buy parts from www.compassmicro.com, but I don't think they will sell you the service manual.

Replace main board epson r1800

I'm having the same problem. I was wondering if the Epson board was the same as the Anajet board or was there a difference.

Anajet board is $800 and a new Epson board is about $225.

I'm willing to gamble on the Epson. Dont really want to spend another $1K on parts.

I have a green OK on but It will not print, will not run a test page and the error message is no help either - what should I do? besides wanting to throw it out the window?

Hello, have you tried a self-test print? which is one initiated at the printer, NOT through the computer.
If you don't know how to perform one, try pasting the link below into your web browser and having a look at the info from the Epso website.
http://www.epson.co.uk/Printers-and-All-In-Ones/Inkjet/Epson-Stylus-Photo-R1800/Drivers-Support?target=article&extn=.html&articleId=1365

If you can prove the printer self-test works, then your problem's maybe on the computer side of things; maybe even a driver. If the printer self-test (NOT to be confused with the Windows self-test) DOESN'T work, then take a look at the faq's on the Epson website under 'drivers and support' as below.

Hope this helps!
Kind regards,

My epson R1800 printer sometimes ejects the paper to soon

I solved this problem by wedging a piece of cardboard in the slot next to the on-off switch. This stop the printer from cycling during the printing due to vibrations.

Hi my R1800 has 2 flashing red lights (top) and no power light. What can i do? MAria

Hi.
It could be your ink tray has overflowed.
There is software http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml which might help.

Install this program, set your printer model and the driver (Epson Stylus Photo R1800) when it starts up. Close the program, and it will minimize to the
tray on the taskbar - right click on the icon and goto "Protection Counter". Choose
"Reset Protection Counter". Choose "Yes" to the question about the waste ink pads,
then switch the printer off for 1 minute. This should cure the problem.

It might be worth a try

MacBook Pro Epson Print Driver Dilemma

your problem is about profiles. The gutenprint is the only way to print from intel to r1800, but this driver don't use the same ICC profiles. You have to use one of three solutions below:
1 the best, you have a profile calibrating device, you make a profile of your couple ink-paper and you convert your document into this ICC profile.
2 you convert your picture into your software in one of the Epson generic profiles (hey probably still are on your computer) and you print whithout color managment
3 (awful) you anticipate the color distorsion and you tune your picture to be bad on the screen but pretty good on paper.
