Automatic Button Hole

Does anyone know how to easily use the automatic button hole? I am having trouble making a complete button hole. It does not make the hole automatically. I have to manually turn the fabric in order to make it look like a button hole. According to the manual, the machine is supposed to make it automatically. Any suggestions/

I do not know how to use my button hole foot and need to make a button hole. Can you help me with this?
Thank you
Gwen

I have the same problem, having to turn the cloth manually, although my machine is a 5700. I have mislaid my User Manual in a house move. Advice please?

Perhaps look up the user manual online, or get in touch with your local dealer.

I an having trouble making button holes. The

Make sure the plug from the buttonhole foot is going all the way in when you insert it. If that doesnt correct it, then the foot may be bad.

Kenmore 385 model Automatic Button Hole Apparatus Jams Thread?

Practice and practice some more! Use the same fabric and interfacing as your project and a NEW needle (the correct needle) This is for the Sears Kenmore 385 automatic button hole maker. Make sure you pull the bobbin thread through the Guide Block - it is that simple. Make sure you pull your thread to the back of the machine though the presser foot slot - the correct presser foot. Account for both thread tails before starting to sew. Keep thread tails to the back of the machine 4-5", insert fabric under presser foot keeping thread tails clear. Mark button hole and sew.

Janome JD1818 Automatic Buttonhole Not Working

If everything appears to be working correctly for the first side and stops and bunches up when it should reverse - Make sure you have pulled down the stopper arm (this is not clear in the manual) when the button hole foot contacts the stopper arm gently push the foot against the stopper arm and the direction will reverse and finish the button hole. **Stopper arm pulls down from above - Check the pictures in you manual carefully.**

The button hole option isn't working.

You can use the regular plate and you are correct in that it should make the button hole automatically. If the material does not move, the pessure on the pressure foot is not enough.

You can try the following:
First make sure you select a button hole patern.
You can also place a piece of stitch and tear paper underneath the material to help with the movement. If you dont have any, try normal tissue paper.

Hope this help you
